You can unzip files from File Manager. Navigate to the zip file and tap on it

@marius-ciclistu for reading / extracting / creating any archive that is not zip (rar, 7z, and so on) you need to install 3 packages through a xenial container in libertine: file-roller, p7zip-full, p7zip-rar. Then, navigate to the archive with file-roller (which dpi I advise to set with "libertine tweak tool" in the openstore to get a usable experience) and you'll be able to do what you need

Probably a good feature request for the file manager. It can already extract so I assume it uses a library that can also compress.
