New Manjaro Beta 3 with Phosh for Pinephone
If someone wants to have a look, Manjaro just released a new image with Phosh that is impressive functional - GPS, camera and more working out of the box. I still don't like Phosh as its far from intuitive and it is lacking of many apps that are optimised for a mobile but coming to performance and things working as they should - just wow ..
There is also a new Alpha with Lomiri but as you might expect an early Alpha isn't as mature as a Beta 3 ...
for more just head over to the Manjaro forum thread
@elastic I've just flashed it and tested! What to say, I'm impressed with what Megi did.
There are 2 things I don't understand.
Firstly, why nearly all distros have chosen phosh as there main environment. Secondly, I thought it was all about building a mainline (kernel) device to reduce a lot for work and now there is a kernel and a camera app extra for the pinephone
@makeixo There have been problems with Lomiri for other distros. But it is still being worked on.
Plasma is shaping up nice. But it still has some quirks. The choice of which desktop gets finished first is a simple matter of who's working on it. The current persons are phosh fans.
It takes time for patches to be accepted into the mainline kernel. A lot of things come as a patched kernel before it becomes mainline.

@elastic Thanks for the tip! I was going to ask "where's the camera?", but finally found it. Not intuitive, as you say; I was looking for an icon like a camera or lens. A closer look at the names revealed it...Megapixel
