Switch OS on Volla Phone

Hello,

I got a Volla Phone with Volla OS preinstalled (I just wanted to see it).
I was thinking, that installing UT on it should easily be possible with the UBPorts Installer. Now Volla says:

"The UBports Installer allows you to install the Ubuntu Touch, Volla OS and Sailfish OS operating systems on the Volla Phone. Since the app is only available in a beta version and in some cases the Volla Phone has to be unlocked first, we only recommend changing the operating system to experienced users."

I consider myself experienced enough, since I managed to install UT on several devices which weren't all easy.
But right now I simply don't wanna mess around, I just want a smooth install.

So has anybody done this yet? How do I know if the device needs to be unlocked?

@jojumaxx I have only reflashed one UT Volla so never done with Volla OS preinstalled, but for UT OS preinstalled, the installer unlocked the Volla bootloader.

Having already flashed a Nexus 5 Android, the procedure SHOULD be the same : put the Volla in developer mode and activate Usb debugging and then connect the Volla to the computer, launch the installer and follow its instructions.

If you choose the dev or rc channel, there is a probability that you don't have an internet connection on your flashed UT Volla (cellular data management issues with SIM used), so don't be surprised if this is the case. On the stable channel, I hope it works for you. The wifi with UT Volla always works.

@jojumaxx I always say, "when in doubt, assume it needs to be done" if its already unlocked it wont re-lock it, it will just tell you its already unlocked
