[Porting] Call for Testers

Fingerprint reader seems to work now with the latest sensorfw changes in the devel channel (auto brightness also fixed).
-
@nfsprodriver on the 5T? I cannot believe it
-
@flohack Oh, there is a difference for the fp readers? Didn't know that. It's working on my OP 5 non T
-
@nfsprodriver Yes there is a difference which makes it disabled for unlock method selection, no one knows why.
-
Is it possible to merge the anbox-halium patches soon? It would be easier to test the latest Waydroid status without the need to flash the self built kernel after a daily devel update. Or are there negative side effects with these patches like power consumption?
Every time I tried to use Waydroid it didn't boot up because of vibrator issues. Is this something to be fixed before the merge? -
@nfsprodriver My latest state is we have to wait for Wayland support and 20.04 is that not the case? My information says it needs changes in the rootfs as well...
I have no patches that I could merge therefore.
Please talk with the Waydroid developer Erfan first, I dont want to have a negative user experience with a half-baked Waydroid engine rolled out. That makes no sense. According to his last message its not ready for daily, and thats also my opinion. -
@flohack I see your point. I'll try on with manual flashing and reporting the current state of functionallity here.
Anyway, did you have a look on the merge request in the kernel repo? This is also for the old anbox, which is basically running with this. -

I saw it and I need to test it myself first to find out if this works or not. I hope I find time

Hi, I'm new here, I own a OnePlus 5T.
I want to switch to a real Linux distribution, what's the state of this port ?
I need SMS, MMS, cals, network (LTE, WiFi), audio and Bluetooth.
I can help to test the device, and I'm OK with finding bugs. -
@eragon
You can find the state of a port at http://devices.ubports.com/ -
@eragon I think all of that should work ^^

@flohack said in [Porting] Call for Testers:
@thomas-k8s yes sorry, there is generally no VoLTE in Ubuntu Touch at the moment, and its very questionable if it will every be fixed, due to custom undocumented vendor applications. All mobile phone projects outside of Android and iOS struggle with that.
Even LineageOS does not support VoLTE on all ports.

I don't understand that one :
- LTE = 4G in general.
- VoLTE has always been optional.
So...
Is it possible to receive calls when connected via 4G or not ?!
My current 4G phone doesn't have VoLTE either...
-
@nero355 4G calls in and out = yes
-
@nero355
VoLTE is voice over LTE, LTE is 4G.
VoLTE is not working on any UT device for now.
Yet you can use 4G data on any UT 4G device.
On those devices, when you do or receive a call, phone switchs to 3g or H or whatever. -
@keneda
Sounds logical! Thnx! -
hi everyone. i just bought a second-hand oneplus 5T device and would like to contribute with testing and anything. my background is not technically technical and I wonder how I could help you atm.
thanks for your response. -
@owwen Great! The OP5T port is almost finished, so its really a nice experience I think, so try to install it with installer (unlock bootloader first and format data with TWRP if there was Android on it before) and then come back and tell us what you find
-
I tried to install using the ubports installer but when trying to donwload the firmware it says there is a certificate error:
-
@owwen
May I ask what you paid for the phone and how old and used it was ?!I am considering this phone now since all this work is beeing done for it but I need more info like for example : What are my options when it comes to replacing the battery of the phone ?!
-
@nero355 FYI not who you asked, but I can also give you a data point: I recently bought a used one for roughly 110$ (roughly 1/3 of the price for a new one currently as far as I saw). The previous owner used it for 1.5 years and as far as I can tell it still works perfectly fine.
