External monitor over type-C
-
Hey I really love UT so far. I am on a Pixel 3a and notoced I can't connect it to a monitor with my USB to HDMI cable. I think its kinda a missed opportunity because with somethng like an x86 emulator, Ubuntu Touch could be a really big competitor to mini PCs and ARM SoC devices like the Pi 4.

@triguy I don't think any of the Pixel phones support external display so you may be out of luck. UT already supports it if the hardware and drivers support it.
-
@triguy The Google Pixel phones do not have Slimport support unfortunately. So you won't be able to get video over USB with it.

I have moved your thread to Pixel 3 specific subforum

@triguy Wireless display in UT is only known to work with Microsoft adapter and only a few device have it actually work. Also, it won't be a good experience if you want to use it like a desktop since input lag is very noticeable. This is true to wireless display even on other devices and OS.

There is a section of the docs that show how to wirelessly screencast which might help (screencast + Bluetooth mouse and keyboard)

Sadly Miracast support still needs some work on Android 9 based devices. I'm sure it will get there but it's not working right now. Still, it will be the only way to support external monitors.
