    • Bounty for Pixel 3a/Halium 9 stability

I'm not exactly sure how this all works but today my iPhone that I use for calls stopped working and I'm left without a phone. I can borrow an old one from a friend to use for calls for the time being but I'd like to be able to just use my Ubuntu Touch phone for everything. I would like to propose a $100 USD bounty for any developer who can get calls and text working for the Pixel 3a. I would be extremely greatful for a development like that and it would also help out everyone else in the US who wants to try out Ubuntu Touch on a solid, affordable, and accessible phone. I love everything the UBports devs are doing but I also just need a working phone too. If this is against the rules or something I fully understand. I'm willing to help out in any way I can with debugging and testing to get this working. Thank you!

PS: If this breaks any rules I understand and will take this post down. I am on Verizon Wireless and it is the only service besides Union that has coverage in my area. Also, my GSM/CDMA is locked to Verizon unfortunately.

    • How can I share files from my Ubuntu Touch host with Waydroid?

Hello. I am using Ubuntu Touch OTA 24 with the latest Waydroid (installed today). It works decently on my Google Pixel 3a, outside of the home, back, app switcher buttons being out of reach. I primarily installed it to use Signal, along with possibly other social media apps. However, I noticed that user files such as Downloads, Pictures, Videos, etc. do not sync between Ubuntu Touch and Waydroid. I found a Waydroid FAQ article addressing this issue, but it does not work. If I run # ls -a ~/.local/share/waydroid/data/media/0/Pictures, in UT Terminal, for instance, I can see that the files are mounted there. However, Waydroid's file manager cannot see any of these files. Is anyone familiar enough with UT and/or Waydroid to help me sync/symlink or mount folders from my UT host so that Waydroid can see them? I'd love to be able to share a Downloads folder and a Photo gallery. Any help is appreciated!

    • RE: Please add a setting for the system clock format

Apparently if I change my language from English (US) to English (UK) it changes the time format. This works but is very hacky and will mess with spelling suggestions. I understand some regions (like the US) have time standards. However, the 24hr clock is still quite popular here and should be configurable in the system settings.

    • External monitor over type-C

Hey I really love UT so far. I am on a Pixel 3a and notoced I can't connect it to a monitor with my USB to HDMI cable. I think its kinda a missed opportunity because with somethng like an x86 emulator, Ubuntu Touch could be a really big competitor to mini PCs and ARM SoC devices like the Pi 4.

@cliffcoggin "here" meaning in the US. 12hr time (AM/PM) is the standard and what UT enforces, many prefer 24hr time. The English (US) language setting sets the system time format (ie. panel and lock screen) to 12hr time. I'm using Google Pixel 3a, Ubuntu Touch OTA-24.

@lakotaubp Sorry. The post in #design was meant for feedback, this was meant for finding help/as a guide for future users. I suppose they ended up seeming redundant. 😬

Hello. I'd like to set the clock on the panel and lockscreen to a 24hr clock like the rest of the system. How can I do this?

    • Please add a setting for the system clock format

Ubuntu Touch drives me nuts with its time format. Most apps ie. Clock use the 24hr format. However, there is no setting to set the system clock to 24hr format. So, apps always use a 24hr clock, and the system always uses a 12hr clock. At the very least, Ubuntu Touch needs a setting to set the time format for the system between 24hr and 12hr/AMPM. Ideally, this could also change the time entry forms in apps, but that is less important IMO.

If there is a workaround, I'd love to know. But this should really be in the system settings under Date & Time. It is very annoying having to translate between time formats all the time. It's something you really notice after you daily drive it for a while.

@keneda Thank you. Yeah, it definitely seems to handle the filesystem differently, which is understandable. I'll try the Termux hack for now, I suppose. Thanks again!

    • RE: T-Mobile MMS issues

@mdl No progress. I contacted T-Mobile to see if they could fix it on their end. They tried but to no avail. I can receive an error message letting me know that someone tried to send an MMS message, but that is it. I cannot participate in group chats, receive large messages, images, etc. Kinda sucks, but it's good enough for me. I hope MMS can get sorted out on UT eventually. I might upload a log if it would actually help the developers solve this issue.

Somewhat unrelated, however: I did, find out that the reason I cannot receive calls is because UT (on my Pixel 3a) can seemingly only do SMS I/O and data while on LTE for some reason. While using LTE, I could not make or recieve calls. I also noticed that when trying to call someone, the call would not start dialing for a few seconds, then the service would completely shut off, then my phone would switch to 3G data, then the phone would start dialing. I found that by limiting the data to 3G, I can finally recieve spam calls from the CDC, scammers, and family again! Woohoo! (hope this information helps someone) Should probably file a bug report.

    • T-Mobile MMS issues

Hello. I've been hapily running UT on Pixel 3a for several months with T-Mobile as my carrier. It's a mostly good experience, but there's a big issue: no MMS text. I cannot send or recieve MMS messages such as images. Any advice? I'm using default APN settings.
