@jojoyou There is anbox for running android apps in but it needs heavy development to make it really work, see here https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5907/open-ubuntu-touch-to-all-android-applications

The more the users, the more the devs interested by os, the more the native apps, the more the better for user.

Anbox is only palliative in meantime, and, i guess, will never be a perfect solution for all android native apps.

I think a better solution would be a device that allow dual boot between androïd and uTouch, for apps that need gservice to run (like most banking apps for example).

If the crowd funding is a success then it's still not a lot of developer's time so the progress should be shy IMHO.
Don't expect something extraordinary from Anbox there are limitations due to confinement and hardware policy.

Basically android apps won't work if they need google apps, access to the camera, GPS, ...
Android rights management are not compatible with UT and creating a compatibility layer is a hard way to go.

For example an Ubuntu Touch native app knows to use the content hub to access pictures or the camera where for android apps, Anbox need to provide a way to allow access to the camera without rewriting the app filters on the camera is not possible because the android app would need to access the video stream and not a still picture or an already captured video...

                      Try it!

I installed whatsapp today by doenloading apk to laptop.
                      Then adb push /mypath/whatsapp.apk /home/pahblet/downloads

Then adb shell so u are logged in to shell of phone
                      Adb ibstall /downloads/whatsapp.apk

That was it. It just works.

Phone rebooted couplenofntimes but now all is well
