Needing help about bluetooth
-
I have purchased a second hand Oneplus One (bacon) and successfully installed Ubuntu Touch. Everything functions more or less nicely - which is very appreciated - but bluetooth. My phone sees my headset and a couple of other devices but nothing happens when I push the connection button.
Though I am using Ubuntu on my computer, I am not knowledgable enough to determine if it is my phone which is fullty or I have missed something during the installation.
Thanks in advance for your help.

@yadi
Bluetooth connectivity on uTouch highly depends on each devices you want to connect to.
That's not because you see some device that you will be able to use it.https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5150/bluetooth-working-devices-with-ut

@keneda
To make sure that I have more chance to connect to at least one device, I have tried two things: 1- Installed stable and rc version with the same result. 2- Tried to connect to more than a dozen of devices without any success.
Are there some terminal commands that I can issue to make sure that my phone works properly as far as bluetooth connectivity is concerned? -

Sorry i can't tell, i'm not such advanced user.

@keneda Thanks any way.

@yadi What exactly happens when you try to connect to your BT devices? As mentioned, BT compatibility can be hit and miss and depends on the combination of the BT device and the UT device. For example, my JBL Go speaker makes the system unstable on my Nexus 5, IIRC, but works fine with my other UT devices. Also, avoid using BLE connection. Some devices can appear in BLE and normal (3.0,4.0,etc) connections, choose the latter.
Lastly, you can try forgetting the device on the bluetooth page and try to connect again and you can also try toggling off and on BT in UT.

@kugiigi Thanks for your reply. When I push the Connect botten nothing happens at all. I borrowed today even a Jbl Go2 speaker and tried, no success! Strange since it is mentioned in the forum as a compatible device.
By the way, I have no idea how to change between BLE and other alternatives. -
@yadi That's really weird. I would think at least one will connect successfully. Have you tried rebooting?
As for BLE, you don't usually need to do anything, both connections should be detected. -
@yadi Last time I tried mine persistent attempts where needed to connect to my Bose speaker and others it works straight away. I have mine running the halium dev channel but have not tried Bluetooth yet as it is not my daily driver. Why not try that, it's in System Settings with the others update channels.
-
@lakotaubp I have tried rebooting and even turning bluetooth on and off, no effect on the outcome.
If I do not get any better clue to solution I will go fΓΆr the development version. Thanks. -
@yadi JFI Halium dev makes my OPO run better in general so worth trying anyway and there is the Firmware update too just incase you missed it. Anyway good luck with it and the wonders of Bluetooth on UT.
-
I have gone over now to Halium and unfotunately no success. Rebooting and turning on and off of BT does not help either.
-
@yadi My remaining question is how to update the firmware. Thanks
-
@yadi Read all the thread as there are in fact two files Firmware update and Radio that you need https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6193/article-needed-for-firmware-upgrade/10
-
@yadi Just as proof of the Bluetooth issues my OPO on halium dev with latest updates took 10 secs to find and connect with my Bose Soundlink mini. It's also picked up the TV from the other room. Go figure and I have yet to do Firmware update. Sorry.
-
@lakotaubp My PC does not recognise the OPO now. I get this message that there is no device or emulator. I remember even during the installation - in the begenning of that I had to choose the phone manually. I will give a try again during the coming days.
-
@lakotaubp After connecting my phone to the PC, I issued the command "adb reboot bootloader" . I get something like, There is not such a device.
Therefore I put the the phone in flashboot by holding volume down and on/off button. And then connected the phone to my PC.
I could now complete the first part of instructions that covers flashing the firmware update. But I am not able to do the same to the second file, Radio.
I have opened a terminal on the file Radio and issued the command "sudo fastboot flash static_nvbk.bin". -
@yadi I would ask in the original thread, there is the same question being asked. Not sure why it's not working.
-
@lakotaubp I get this "can not determine image filename for "static_nvbk.bin".
-
@yadi I have not tried yet so have no idea but if you open the terminal in the file holding the Radio file and adb into the device and reboot to bootloader and your command above does not work I am stuck @PhoenixLandPirat did the original instruction set maybe they can help.
