Bluetooth camera control?
-
I have this new device that is a bit like a selfie-stick in so far as that it uses bluetooth to control the camera (shutter etc.).
Is that at all supported by UT? Because I tried connecting it, but none of the buttons had any effect in the camera app.

No, there's no hardware button support on the camera app. There is an open PR to support Xperia X's shutter button. If the buttons are detected properly then it may be simple to add support. If you want, you can try in Gearboy if the keys are detected there. There's an option there to map buttons.

@kugiigi thanks for the feedback. I found some info on the net that Canonical apparently added "selfie stick" support to UT back in OTA10. But of course lots has changed since then.
The bluetooth device in question however doesn't seem to register any buttons in Gearboy Color. Maybe because it shows up at "type other" in the bluetooth connection dialog?
I guess similar to how we recently tested head-set buttons for the music app, maybe we could try and do the same for camera hardware buttons?

@povoq Yeah they are probably similar to the media controls instead of normal keys. You can try that same test and see.

@povoq
Maybe you could try with evtest, if that's not what you already talk about. -
bluetooth is kinda a pain in the butt. i got a nexus 5 and i never have luck with bluetooth connecting it to my bose headphones. even on my laptop it struggles time to time.

@unrealb2 The bluetooth connection is not the problem, what happens after the connection is established is not working.
I guess I'll try it with evtest some time and post the results here.
