      Hello,

My phone (meizu pro5) has the screen dead, well i guess it is. I have a black screen but the phone works, the wakeup alarm has worked this morning so now i wait for it to empty the cell and reboot with the very very very little hope the screen will restart ..... So if it is dead, i'd like to save all my contact list (even other things) from my computer (with ubuntu too), but i have 2 difficulties : the first one is that i see my phone but nothing is in the directory (if i remember well i used to have to unlock the screen to see the contents of my phone on my computer) and the second one is to find and be able to read the contact list. So if the second is not possible, i will not try to solve the first one 😉 I thought i have copy the contacts to the sim card but it was not the case ... I'm waiting for to receive my new ubuntu phone (i have chosen the Volla Phone) so maybe i can save an unreadable file (i mean a non-ascii file) and copy it to the new one.

For the moment i can't try to connect it to the computer because i want to empty the cell first (i have the notification light on so i can see when it will be off) and plug it and so reboot it.

        Hi @aenima
I doubt emptying the battery will do a miracle. But it's worth the try.
If you enabled SSH to your phone, that would be the best way to access your data.
Or you can try with ADB while connected in USB.

In last resort you can try to log in using your muscular memory and typing the code without seeing what's displayed (the tactile might still work).

@applee thanks for the tips, but i have no mobile network at home and the wifi is off (i wasn't at home when the screen died) so i can't connect to it (moreover i know that i can do ssh from my mobile to my computer but not the reverse one). And i doubt that the tactile is still working, i can't stop the wakeup alarm to repeat every 15 minutes .... And for this one i'm pretty sure where i have to tap to stop it 😉
I may have to see with adb ....

I think you got a good assessment of the situation and I hope you'll be able to save your data.
            Good luck with that. 🤞

@applee unfortunalty i looked at it and it seems to ask the phone to be screen unlocked .... i try and it cannot be able to connect. So now all my tiny hopes are on the reboot .... so i guess all is lost.

@aenima , Surely you can connect a mouse or keyboard to unlock the screen. (I don't know if you can connect the keyboard and mouse at the same time as the pc) But if you are fast you might not need to.

As guessed, the reboot didn't work, the screen is really dead.

@bolly that's a good idea but i never tried it before and i'm almost sure that the bluetooth is off .... And i don't have keyboard with usb-c if it can work on the meizu pro5 usb-c connector ....

@aenima An adapter is the cheapest thing to buy.

i'm still not able to connect my phone to the compuetr, even trying unlock it with an external keyboard. I'm not sure on how it works still i never try this before. What i notice too is that the phone is mounted on mtp://Meizu_Pro5_etc , does that mean it is not on storage mode?
And so finally, what are the shortcuts from the keyboard that can work? can i launch the terminal app and maybe try to change something in blind mode ?

Thanks for you help and ideas 😉

                          Do you have a password?
When you connect a mouse, do you see the red light under the mouse?
Or do you see any keypad lights, e.g. the "Caps Lock" light?

@bolly yes i need to enter the password, and no, i don't see any light on the keyboard. Morevover, now the wakeup alarm doesn't work anymore, so i don't know the real state of the phone. The only thing i know is when i plug the phone on my computer, it mounts it with mdp, so i guess the phone is started.

If you don't see any light that makes you think that the keyboard and mouse are working, it's not working.

I've tried it with the e4.5 and the mouse doesn't work (I don't see the light), however with the tablet M10FHD the mouse does work (I see the light) and I can unlock it.

Sorry, I thought I remember connecting a mouse to the e4.5 one day and it worked, now I'm not so sure if it was wired or Bluetooth.
