I've changed some of my notification settings as suggested, and i'm still receiving MMS notifications. So all good so far. But i'll have to wait until the next OS update to see if the OS-update notification is stopped.

I am curious why you want to stop update notification. Do you not want to know when an update is available?

@fizz said in New version notification:
Your first sentence implies that the update notification was working under 21, but your second sentence says it was not working under 21.
Read again because you misunderstood, "under" is not "before" in my sentence.
Either way, while on 21, i was notified of the update to "version 20". I let it download and install and now i'm on OTA-22. So apparently version 20 is the same thing as OTA-22.
Like already explained by @Lakotaubp, "version" and "OTA" have not the same versionning.
Version 20, for your device, becomes OTA22 once installed...The 20th update for your device is the 22th update of UBP UT, any device considered.

Read again because you misunderstood, "under" is not "before" in my sentence.I didn't take your meaning as "before". I took "under" to mean "using" or "on". Let me replace "under" to illustrate how i read it:
You said:Yes OS is telling you there is an update because you're using OTA 21 and there is OTA 22 available.
But, this was not working anymore for OTA 20 to 21, and before that also.where i replace "under" with "using". And then i said:
Your first sentence implies that the update notification was working on 21, but your second sentence says it was not working on 21.
where i replaced "under" with "on".
So the two are contradictory still. Your first says i received the notification because i was on -21, ergo that the notification works on -21. But your next line said it was not working for 20 to 21.

The 20th update for your device is the 22th update of UBP UT, any device considered.That doesn't make sense though, as i have not updated this OS nearly that many times. I've updated the OS exactly twice. When i first installed, it was OTA-16. I did not do any updates until January, when i updated to OTA-21, and today i did the update to OTA-22. So if what you're saying is true, shouldn't i be on version 2 (the second update), or maybe 3 (the 3rd version installed)?

But your next line said it was not working for 20 to 21.
So what's unclear there ?
It was not working when phone under OTA 20 and update to OTA 21 was released, no notification then that OTA21 was available.@fizz said in New version notification:

-FizzUbports versionning is not related to you and the frequencies you update your phone.
OTA 16 was "version 14", OTA 21 was "vesrion 19" and OTA 22 is "version 20" for this particular device, and none of those versionning numbers has anything to do with you or your upgrade frequencies. -

It was not working when phone under OTA 20 and update to OTA 21 was released, no notification then that OTA21 was available.When you say "not working for 20 to 21", that means it doesn't work on 21. "20 to 21" is an inclusive statement. If you meant to say it doesn't work 20 alone, then you'd say "not working for 20", full stop.

@fizz
If you say so.
"not working when updating from 20 to 21" if you prefer.
I'm done here. -

So on my phone, will the difference in the two numbers always be 2? For example, if i ever see "version 25", will that mean it's OTA 27?

@fizz
It should stay like that, yes. -

I'm done here.Ah this revised sentence clarifies it all. Without that specification of "upgrading from" i thought you were talking about two separate versions: that "not working for 20 to 21" meant update notifications don't work on -20 and that they don't work on -21.
So glad we finally made it to the same page. Thanks for the feedback.
