BQ M10 Ubuntu Touch Edition SD Card Question
-
I have a lot of stuff backed up on an sd card in my tablet.
When I use External Drives and tap "remove card safely", I get a message saying:
"Warning, files on the device can't be accessed after removing"
Does that only apply to the source tablet ( BQ M10), or to other devices as well?
I was hoping to move the card to my Lenovo TB-X605F, but I want to be confident that the data will not be lost.
It would be perverse if the card could not be read by the destination device, but I need to be sure. -

Of course ^^

Beware that destination device must be able to access file system.
For instance in my car i have an usb key (fat32 or ntfs i don't remember) for music, and i can't access files from my MX4 because UT doesn't know the used file system, so i can only format it with my MX4 (wich i obviously don't do). -
@keneda
How can I check the file system before I remove the card from the BQ M10?
I can't remember how the card was formatted, it's been in the BQ for years. Could have been formatted by the BQ, or maybe was already formatted when purchased. -
@keneda
I would normally use gparted in my laptop for formatting sd cards, but the BQ tablet has an option to format sd card.
It seems I can't experiment without the risk of borking the card. -

I'm sure you can check this with command line, but i don't know how.
I'm sure also someone know the answer already, so wait a little ^^
You can also check this on a computer. Again, you can safely pull out the sd from your bq, just don't format it if computer asks for it. -
@dtarrant there really is no need to be this cautious. Just turn off the both tablets completely. Take out the card from the BQ, put it in the new tablet and see if it is recognized. It should be, unless the port is in a state where it isn't.
And if it is not, then bo harm done, just turn off both devices and replace the card in the BQ. -
@arubislander
Seems maybe I mis-interpreted the warning. Obviously the files aren't accessible after the card is removed.
I took it to mean that the files might not be accessible if I put the card back. Doh!
Let's go for it! -

Mission accomplished! Card is now installed and working in Lenovo TB-X605F. Thanks for your help.
I had some mechanical problems. Was difficult to see what I was doing.
At one point I realised the card slot was empty. I remembered having a problem with a Raspberry Pi when the micro sd card pinged out on the floor. So I searched on the floor with a torch and sure enough there was the missing card. I seated it in the card carrier, inserted it in the Lenovo tablet and was greatly relieved to find that all my files were accessible.
Happy ending! -
