The recent OTA update downloaded fine and appeared to install OK as the UT creature's eye kept blinking. It failed on reboot and is now stuck in a boot loop.

I see the UT screen with 5 dots and the pad appears to be booting but then the screen goes black and about 5 seconds later I see the boot JingPad logo with UT below the logo. This goes on indefinitely with about 30 second cycles.

Right now I am trying to remember how to turn it off when it loops. Maybe I can get the pad into bootloader or recovery mode. Also, I want to be sure the battery is charging.

        Any suggestions?

Edit: I found a way to turn the pad off and the result was the battery charging indicator said 75%. Up from 57% two hours before.

Just finished reflashing with the installer while leaving user data intact. It worked well. Just had to reinstall waydroid and it's like nothing had happened.

@be7b5 Can you give a few more details on how you did this? I can reboot into the UT bootloader menu and navigate. The UBports installer correctly identifies the JingPad A1/C1 (mine is C1) when the JingPad is in recovery.

The installer downloads the image and reboots to fastboot mode. The JingPad screen shows fastboot mode.

Flashing appears to begin but 2 times I have waited for 30 minutes each and nothing happens. The installer does say: Flashing firmware with the dots showing activity. But nothing.

I am using Linux as I did before. Later tonight I might try from a Windows box.

@el_pinguino Do you happen to have USB 2 and USB 3 ports on your computer. Issues have been reported using USB 3 ports, that seem to be avoided when using USB 2 ports.

My Intel NUC is all USB 3.0. However, this is the computer I initially installed UT with. And the same USB cable.

In a terminal adb sees the JingPad serial number and shows recovery mode. I start the installer and it recognizes the JingPad and the asks me what OS I want to install and I choose UT (only choice). Next step is the install options and I choose to not wipe personal date. Bootstrap only. Then it reboots to fast boot and says flashing firmware... until I power off. This time I let it 'flash' and changed my guitar strings. Plenty of time.

I tried to use the Windows box but I've forgotten the password. The only reason I have a Windows box was to unlock the JingPad bootloader.

I'll wait and see what happens with others in the future.

Update: I found the password to the Windows box and tried to install UT from there. I downloaded the installer version 0.8.9 for Windows. (Linux had a newer version 0.9.5 ) I used USB 2.0 connection.

The installer recognized the JingPad when the JingPad was in Recovery Mode and rebooted the JingPad to bootloader mode. The installer asked all of the same questions as on the Linux box. This process failed in the same manner as the Linux box.

Over the next few days, I'll explore the idea of reinstalling JingOS/Jing Android and starting fresh.

2nd Update: I have reflashed the update and the JingPad is working with personal data untouched as far as I know. The system says up to date with OTA 23.

The key was to uncheck both wipe personal data and bootstrap during installation. (wipe personal data is already unchecked)

To recap: I did this on a Ubuntu 20.04 box with UBports installer 0.9.5 with USB 3.0

1: I powered on the JingPad to Recovery mode
2: Plugged in the USB cable
3: I started the installer and it found the JingPad and I clicked through to Install.

I cannot get into recovery mode 😞 Boot loops until the battery dies. Any ideas?

Right, got into recovery mode, think the problem was I left it connected to computer as battery had died.....
