        @rondarius Yup, looking forward to trying it out. I hope it's good and stable. Had to move to Gnome since 18.04 to avoid conflicts and issues. I heard they might also try a Lomiri variant 😄

          @kugiigi Yep, I'm on the same boat 🙂
          And just think of the possibilities, we are Lomiri(Unity) on mobile/touch devices and them om on desktop/laptop devices. I'm sure they are keen on moving to Unity 8(evolution) too. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, there is alot of obstacles ahead, but nothing is impossible right 🙂 ?

            There was me thinking that Canonical were losing interest in Ubuntu desktop and working more on server and Internet of Things (i.e. car charging front end/backend software , Wi-FI access points etc.). I always liked Unity on the desktop.

              @mrt10001
              There is me thinking that canonical could at least make Ubuntu Touch by UBports foundation part of its official "flavors" (and, maybe, a little support).

              Foundation and community devs own this.

              It's kind of a shame that this is not the case.

                What are the benefits to be an Official flavor of Ubuntu?

                  @keneda Lomiri needs to be good on the desktop before that happens. Still so much things to do 😄

                    @keneda I remember getting my BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu edition. I was happy that finally Linux as such was on a phone, but could see it not lasting. You can see the what most consumers use their devices. They want it to just work, and just working includes all the usual apps, from Facebook to Banking, that were just not available. In just a short space of time Canonical support was no more, but at least it didn't go entirely extinct and went to the community developers. Oddly M$ Windows phones went the same way and they are still ploughing on with tablets.
                    The phone and tablet OS market is very fickle and has been captured by really only two names which will hopefully end in the future.
                    I also remember Unity getting dropped and Ubuntu going back to Gnome, which to me made no difference as Ubuntu still worked for my needs.

                      Unity7 and more so Unity8 should have revolutionized the computing experience. We all knew where we would find the menus, no matter whar application, no pushing the mouse from one corner to the next just to start an app. Open the main menu left corner down the bottom. The apps are at the top. The one that you are looking for is usually on page 3, even though you're using it daily. The save button is on the top right whereas the cancel button is at the top left. It is an ergonomical nightmare. Unity is the reason why I made the decision for Ubuntu.
