Hi, I have a Nexus 5 which a few days ago was still hibernating in the darkest depths of a drawer, unused because of an old an broken version of UT, really full of bugs (so that updating to the current OTA wasn’t even possible to this point).
Then occurred the tragic moment : my daily and beloved OnePlusOne got smashed roughly so I had to get back to Nexus.
According to me at this moment, the best way to make it functional again and have the latest OTA version was to 1) switch to android version (hammerhead) 2) get back from android to Ubuntu with an ADB sideload, seems pretty easy at first sight
The problem is that, on one hand, using the recovery mode, I kind of erased the old version of UT. Turning the phone on just make appear the classic opening message « nexus 5 – powered by ubuntu – supported by ubports ».
On a second hand, the problem is that in this situation my device can’t communicate with my Linux Mint pc’s ADB : I have a error message reading « unable to mount nexus 5 : impossible to open mtp device ».
To be more precise, ADB sees the attached device but doesn’t seem to work on it, because of this mtp protocol… What I begin to understand is that I would easily have been able to make it work if I hadn’t erased the former version of UT, from which I’d have authorized ADB to sideload its image of android’s ota.
I used a few Linux softwares like for ex. Jmptfs to activate mtp protocol between Linux Mint and this damn Nexus 5, but failed till now - not much clear to me how I should use these softwares.
Anyone’s got an idea about how to solve this all ?

Sorry I realized I posted in the wrong place, so whoever authorized can delete this thread, my mistake

@splouch I have moved it to support instead.

@splouch To go forward, do a clean install from the UT installer and boot to the bootloader by pressing volume down and the power button when the phone is off. If you wish to keep your data, untick the wipe data box on the installer.

@mrt10001 Well, that was my first thought too : I had already attempted to rebuild a clean install from the UT installer when I discovered, and it failed.
After reading your message, I decided to go for it one more time.
And, for whatever reason, it's working. Nexus is back and in its greatest shape (OTA 24).Thank you for your help!
