@developerbayman I understand you mean well, and your enthusiasm is appreciated. But take a step back and consider what it is you are presenting us with:
You are asking us to trust you that the .apk you linked to was produced by the source you link to. It is generally not a good idea for people to download and install random executables from the internet, this would include this forum.
Maybe you could set up your sources in a repository, configure a build pipeline and link to the generated artifacts instead?
Also, as you've seen from the responses, people on this forum don't see an .apk and think: "Cool! I can now run this natively on my Android device too!" The first thing they think is: "Why would I run this app on Waydroid?"
So it might just be that there is a much smaller user base for your app in this community than you initially thought.

@moem really myself but in the end i cant do things on the on the native app .....also its handy on my other android devices
-
Well you could compile from the source code provided or simply not use it .....uploading to git and artifacts sounds like a huge pain for a 15 min project because mainly i wanted a UBports app just for MY waydroid install also for MY other android tablet i dev on
other than when i set up video conference im not going to change it(unless something broke?) .......i thought i would share so take it or leave it
-
Basically im going to work waydroid up until i really get good with clickable .....
i guess in the end you have to trust anyone whom you install their software lol
.....but consider this im willing to bet if i wrote an app in clickable and published to open store id bet the review process isnt that in depth .....or a webapp even
how do you know what code is being served to you on the backend? At the end of the day if you dont compile everything yourself without inspecting the code .......your always at the mercy of the developer
I ......i may upload to github at some point but that wont save you
any artifacts created by git wouldnt give a single worry on what code was executed it would compile any code i fed it and give you a "trusted artifact"
-
I have to point out something no one is aware of i have neighbor who has mental issues and is CONSTANTLY talking about how people are watching him thru his phone, destroying his phone asking me to do impossible things with his phone all for his paranoia ......which has no basis in actual reality ......so my bottom line is im over the paranoia im not a evil guy i have zero care about your information im fully transparent .......so if you dont feel you cant trust me as a developer then please by all means DO NOT USE ANY OF MY CODE ......i lost my job two weeks before christmas my vehicle broke down and i buried my mom like 5 days ago...i just got UT on my device yhe day i signed up (the day after my moms funeral)....iv been on here kinda not stop as a distraction....so everything im doing is to keep busy.....take or leave it .....so please dont come at me with "but can i trust it?"......its like a pet peeve of mine......especially when i give you the option of inspecting the code yourself and compiling it any way you see fit ~end of rant

@developerbayman said in {app release}-(WayDroid)preview UBports Forum.apk:

@developerbayman I am terribly sorry for your loss. Mothers are such unsung heroes. It is great to read about yours. She will never really be gone as long as you remember her.
When you are in a better place, we should pick up the discussion on the point you raised about webapps and embedded webviews.
In my original response to you it was never my intention to call in question your integrity or motives. Rather I wanted to avoid giving the opportunity for our forum users to develop the habit of installing executables linked in the forums.
