I was trying out UT on the Pinephone and just out of curiosity, I set up Libertine and tried Firefox. To my amazement, it seemed to be working pretty well πŸ™‚
Has anybody tried this on other Focal devices?
        Thanks

@moodroid Yes, I have Firefox running on my JingPad and on my Pixel 3a, both on Focal. It runs quite well, especially when adding the MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 environment setting to the launch command in the .desktop file.

I have yet to try it in Libertine on my Pinephone though. But your results have encouraged me to do so πŸ™‚

Could you do a little tuto about that ? If it can improve user experience about Firefox. Should it work on all phones ? Even if xenial is 'outdated', should it work with it ? Thanks

Most "non-native" apps now works better in focal because of the use of xwayland instead of the long dead xmir πŸ˜„ Still no hardware acceleration though as far as I know.

@domubpkm Lika a YT video? Or a wirteup? The former will never happen, the latter could take a while...

But no, the Xenial version of FF is too old, it would not work with that.

@arubislander Ok will not work with Xenial.
It is you who sees the form which seems to you the most assimilable for everyone. I especially remember that you have launched an idea that improves/could improve the Firefox experience with focal. Nothing in a rush.

@arubislander Do you know whether it is possible to install focal on a BQ Aquaris 10 HD (I see you've got one)? I checked the update channels but focal doesn't show up win the list 😞

@gdegrez there is no Focal for any of the BQ devices. There was some promising work initiated but other priorities likely took precedence.

As a general rule though, if Focal is not selectable during install or as an update channel, that is because it is not available for the designated device.

Well, I guess that the overwhelming majority of the community thinks that the main interest of UBtouch is for smartphones, whereas I personally think its main advantage is for tablets.
But it is also true that the BQ devices are a rather old hardware.

                        OK. Good to know.
