Hey folks,

Just released Newsie, a native Nextcloud News reader, in the Open Store. Source code will be up by the end of the week when I get a chance to post it to Gitlab. The app is currently pretty basic, add a Nextcloud server with the News app and read away. There is currently no theme support, no translation support, or very many tweaking options but it works. Take a look and feel free to post a comment below.

I think this looks fantastic and for the price, I see no reason not to get one. In fact, I already convinced my wife I'll be grabbing one when it drops as well as one for our youngest as her first phone. Very excited to see how UT development goes on this.

I've been working with the Nextcloud API for Newsie this past week so i can take a look, but my time is very limited until the end of the year so no promises on anything any time soon

1.5.5 is out and has the following new features:

• Settings are now updated automatically instead of after resynchronizing with the server.
• Improvements to offline caching.
• Added favicon in article view.
• Begin work to fix issue with blurry menu and toolbar icons.
• Tons of minor UI tweaks, and some code cleanup.

Version 1.6.1 will be out Friday and it's shaping up to be a feature packed release...check out the CHANGELOG to see what's coming up

i'm porting this to the new sdk now so it will be up in the store shortly

Version 1.6.1 is out now with the following changes (big release!):

• Added data saver mode which prevents loading of images, iframes, favicons, and other external content.
• Added playback speed support for podcast episodes, and additional podcast support.
• When choosing previous/next articles, the page now automatically scrolls back to the top.
• Added scroll to top button to toolbars.
• Refactored settings page code.
• Fixed issue with blurry icons.
• Minor bugfixes and speed improvements.
• Updates to offline caching.

It's possible that some of you may want to wait for 1.6.5 which will be out sometime this weekend (currently beta testing) as that's another big release which brings dark mode and a cleaner UI (see Open Store screenshots for an early look at 1.6.5) and as always, keep up with the CHANGELOG to see what's coming up next.

i found this quite by mistake this morning when i took a pic and the camera didnt freeze...then i proceeded to take 15 pictures in quick succession. Great work folks!

@kugiigi i believe the LG urbane is the most well supported...i have a ticwatch somewhere i may give it a shot.

@david8kids curious what network you switched to? i had to switch phones and would love to get back on UT.

@wilson i will post a build for download possibly this weekend. working on a couple fixes based on feedback from the current build. that build will be available on the gitlab repo (not yet public).

found the repo looking through qml projects on github a couple weeks ago so i've been following in secret i will say, so far so good, keep up the great work!

@theare27 all trivial and fixed on a personal build. Currently looking at the track position problem.

this is really great, i'll have to dive in a little. i have an app in the open store done with backbone.js and it was trivial to get running but i do wish the APIs were exposed.

@theare27 surely it might be simpler use content-hub and set the Music app as an external player, i'll have to look into it. i know sailfish os has this option.
