Dear community members,

I have a mobile data only sim from Google Fi which is activated and works when my Xiaomi Mi A2 runs Android 9.

However after installing Ubuntu Touch on the same device, after giving it the APN settings recommended by Google (during sim activation on the Google Fi website) it fails to work even though the OS recognizes that the Sim is from Google.

The APN settings are:

Carrier: Google Fi
APN name: h2g2

If anyone has gotten Ubuntu touch to work with Google Fi then please let me know how.

@applee, yes I too was confused about that picture. If you scroll down to the product description you will find there that it says explicitly that it can indeed be put into the sim slot.

In any case maybe worth a try eh? Just wanted to find out from the community if they have had experience with this, before I potentially screw up something with my phone!

@fikirsancisi61 when the ubuntu recovery starts did it show slot a or slot b? I had success only on slot a.

Also make sure you have stock android 9. You may have to do a fastboot flash of the files.

I have recently had success in installing Ubuntu Touch on my Xiaomi Mi A2. I am wondering if I can put a nano memory card (similar ro the ones on Huawei phones) in the second sim slot for expanding the memory?

Will this even be recognized by UT? Or will I potentially mess things up?

Nevermind... I just ran "sudo apt-get install -f" without any package info after the error came up and it resolved the dependencies and installed the dependencies and ubports-installer 0.8.8.

However I am still not sure why it would resolve itself by running apt-get install -f without any packages. Experienced people's linux insight would be appreciated.

@lakotaubp thank you for your message. I downloaded the linked file " ubports-installer_0.8.8-beta_linux_amd64.deb" and tried to install it on my linux machine with the command:

sudo dpkg -i ~/Downloads/ubports-installer_0.8.8-beta_linux_amd64.deb

Can you post here how you installed the 0.8.8. version of ubports-installer via snap?

I am unable to figure out what options to give to snap to precisely install the 0.8.8 version.
