Is writing the app the only option left ?

Nexus 5 being used.

Is there a camera app with burst features in the store?
or
Is it possible to install any .apk app from the many alternate stores out there?
I can only find one ubuntu brewed app (included in the OS) and it does not have that option.

If such app exists or if a .apk file is compatible, may anyone point me to it?
