I have a
Fairphone 4
UT 24.04 1.1
Germany
Fonic (Telefonica, O2)

overall its working pretty good. I have a more stable phone call connection with better quality because before the last update only 2G worked for me.
a nice additional benefit for me is the gain in battery life while staying on 4G all day long

VoLTE was disabled as I switched to 2G only and went back to 4G. After restarting the phone VoLTE was back there again.

Hi there, I am new to Ubuntu 24.04 on a Fairphone 4 and it is indeed very exciting!
But I have a problem with battery drain, too. When I have turned on WiFi and Data Connection - tonight it was 4G - it drains from 80% to 45% within 6 hours.
Even for staying reachable in the night that seems enormous for me.
Turning on the display and using it almost doesnt seem to make a difference batterywise...

Did you try to have only 2G enabled and checked the battery drain for that setup?

Do I have to freeze the waydroid container even when I quitted waydroid?

Should I downgrade to 20.04?

I am using a Fairphone 4 with Ubuntu Touch 24.04 on it, flashed with UBports, but with Android 12 pre-installed instead of Android 11. Even ordered a new SIM-Card for it

Any other clues? Do I have to post more information so you guys can help me? Thanks a lot!!

I flashed Android 11 and UT 20.04 after that and I am really happy for now.
I switched on WiFi and 2G only, no other connections.
The battery went from 89% to 86% within 7 hours, so that is very okay for me.
Check!

@arubislander I followed your path (Android 11 -> UT 20.04) and it feels a lot better now in terms of battery lifetime, random shutdowns etc, so thanks a lot for that!
The phone call quality is still a bit mediocre but no disconnections and no weird artifacts/noises, so better on this problem too!

Hi,

it seems old school but I want to use my FP4 UT 24.04 to make good old phone calls. Signal strenght in my place is traditionally very poor but was manageable with an android/huawei. But with my new device it seems that sound quality and signal strenght decreased even more to not understanding and even to interrupting calls and making it not very reliable.

Do you have any suggestions to get a signal quality check for my place or to tweak this new ubuntu touch to get better signal strength / sound quality for phone calls? Or is it FP 4 hardware indicated?
