    • RE: Should it possible to install UbuntuTouch on a FP4?

Wow that 'escalated' quickly 🙂 Yes I can confirm that UbuntuTouch can be installed on a FP4 🙂 Possible with the good documentation/steps and tooling. I installed it with ubports-installer_0.11.2_linux_x86_64_AppImage via my Manjaro NUC box. The installation went smooth! I experienced the unlocking process as a little sweating, because the phone boots several time. And each time you have to go to the intial 'start' screen and enable the USB Debugging again. Now I should spend some time in discovering UT. I've chosen for the 20.04/stable release at first.

    • RE: Welcome to the UBports community! Introduce yourself here!

      Greetings from The Netherlands,
My name is Jan and I like the idea to have fun with a Linux based mobile OS. Certainly with the current developments in the (tech) world. A couple of months ago I started actively to de-google. When I reduced the amount of apps the switch to another android 'taste' would be easier. I bought a Nothing CMF 1 and installed e/os. I host my own nextcloud instance, and this combination works like a charm. I already work with linux boxes for a long time. When I read more about UbuntuTouch and PostmarketOS, I liked the idea to buy an FairPhone4, and do the 'next step' 🙂
      Cheers, Jan

@haagch yes, I'm curious too. Yesterday I looked several times on the forum, on the device channel pages. But couldn't find anything. I'm still a newbie with UT so I don't know how a new version is released / communicated.

    • RE: What is a normal battery usage in UT / FP4 ?

@kugiigi Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm om focal (20.04) The test of putting the phone at night in 'flight modus', did the trick 😊. From 100% to 98% this morning. Now put the phone in the 2G (power save) mode, so I can check this behaviour. I keep you informed.

@arubislander Hi, thanks for your reaction. Yes if I do not use Waydroid, I stop the Waydroid container. I read that using Waydroid consumes 'some' energy. Now my phone is 100%, disabled wifi and enabled the flight mode. So I look tomorrow morning if this makes a diffence.

    • What is a normal battery usage in UT / FP4 ?

      Hi,

The discovering of UT on a FP4 is a real 'rollercoaster' to me 🙂 I played around with the OpenStore apps, struggled with Libertine and Waydroid. It is 1 great candy store 🙂 Succeeded in configuring GhostCloud, failed with the keepass app.

I'm now curious of what should be normal battery usage in UT on a FP4. Normally I do not have GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, data connectivity active. When I go to bed, I turn off the wifi and have no opening apps. But I was supprised that the battery went from 87% to 59% in the morning. Is this normal behaviour?

I looked, helped by the topics on this forum, to scaling_governor, which is on 'schedutil'. I think this night I will enable the 'flight mode' to check if this makes some difference.

      Cheers, Jan

    • Should it possible to install UbuntuTouch on a FP4?

      Hi experts !

Here a newbie question. I just received a FP4 with Android 12 out of the box. As I understand the page https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/fp4/ it should be possible to install UT on the FP4. I should first downgrade to A11. But when I follow the described steps it should be possible? Asking because I see some posts when people get stuck in the boot process. I succeeded before to install e/os on my Nothing CMF 1, I do my private stuff on a Manjaro box, so I do hope to have a lot of fun with the FP4 with UbuntuTouch or PostmarketOS or .... 🙂

Thanks in advance for a reply.

      Cheers, Jan
