Hello all.
Two problems, that may be related
At setup time you are asked to "personalize your device" which at least for me implies that you set the host name. However it sets the name that is shown on the login screen. This, again at least for me implies the users name was changed in this process. However again, this is not true.
In fact, the only result of "personalize your device" seems to be setting the name displayed next to the password field on login screen. Every other place where the users name is needed seems to referr to user "phablet".
On my ubuntu desktop, I am used to see my avatar picture on the login sreen.
The avatar can be set by adding a picture to /home/<user>/.face
This is managed by /var/lib/AccountsService/users/
A similar structure is available on UT. However setting /home/phablet/.face has no effect, regardless whether "personalize your device" is set to "phablet" or anything else.
What is going on here? Why does ubports not referr to well known structures for such basic things like host name, user name, interface configuration?
Well thanks a lot for you fast reply.
I think, I took the wrong approach. I use Ubuntu since dapper and the name Ubuntu Touch misleaded me in the way, that I thought, those well known desktop apps should be my first choice.
When I did not find them in Openstore, I did not look for alternatives but for the "original" in Libertine and Snap.
I am pretty sure, I will be happy with mostly Openstore Apps.
Thank you frytz
Re: Fairphone 5 - 24.04-1.0
Hello all. just trying to start over with UT.
I created a libertine container and installed several graphical apps like libreoffice, abiword, gnumeric.
While abiword and gnumeric start using a very small font size which renders them useless, the libreoffice components just try to start and stop immediately.
I connected with adb shell and started libreoffice there, to see errors, if any. There was none. I used "lomiri-app-launch noble_libreoffice-writer_0.0"
I tried to use the libertine tweak tool, entered the correct container ID and set the Xdpi scaling to different values. This neither had effect to abiword or gnumeric, nor did it help to start libreoffice.
This was the moment I tried to use native snap support. I installed vivaldi and it started with unusable small fonts as well. Neither the UI tweak tool, nor the libertine tweak tool seem to be helpful in this case.
I installed firefox, and it started. However it is just an unusable, transparent shadow in the list of active apps.
My UT is 24.04 stable, with german language settings
So what am I missing?
