Update: Day 23 I have FINALLY got a response from Fairphone support, who claim the IMEI number I had initially given to them via chat and they used to look my device and tell me the previous owner had mainboard issues is suddenly not found in the system and they can not start a repair with it. Responding with a photo of my IMEI's on the box, lets see how long it takes to get a response and if they will have another excuse to not help this time.

How is not using Windows relevant to the suggestion to start again? You're have plenty of issues that no-one else is experiencing, I'd say it's a sensible first step. If something was borked during installation or you had the wrong Android version then the UT installed on top of that, may not function correctly.

@Kadafi sorry but it's not clear to me what happens from your description. For me at first a wide green button 'Install' is displayed. When clicked, at first a grey line flashes briefly, then it's replaced by a line that turns progressively blue tracking the download progress. When it's finished, the line flashes briefly (I assume that's when the installing process is done) and finally the green 'Open' button is displayed. From what you say, the 'Open' button would be displayed while the blue progress line is still advancing ? It seems impossible since both UI items are displayed at the some position.

@Martin230799 check NetworkManager is enabled make sure this file looks like this: phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ cat /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf [main] plugins=ifupdown, keyfile [ifupdown] managed=true [device] wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no if ifupdown managed is false, networkmanager is not managing the network interfaces. in my case it somehow works with it being false but that is most certianly some kind of bug, it should be true.

I tried with another display, it works! It seems, for some odd reason, my main display is the cause. Thank you all for help! P.S.: It's really cool to have this working, so I can now make FP5 my main device. Ubports is such a great project, after leaving Windows to Manjaro, I now can leave the Google ecosystem too and gain back control of my hardware. Just to mention, waydroid works as well very nice. Not everything is perfect (I have issue with bluetooth), but what it offers, is good enough for me, I can live with the workarounds for the rest, until things are fully working sometime in the future (hopefully).

@kugiigi Hello So I dont have another phone with display out so I cant test that unfortunately. I do agree that the hub seems to be what determines what issues I have. I dont have major issues using any hubs with my asus laptop to charge and display out and the laptop draws more power than the phone. What hub do you use?

@Escain said in Any solution to get decent photos?: my picture with 12.6MP is usually between 2 and 3MB, but that could depends on the details on the image. I tried with a zoom and the image is indeed smaller at 2.8 Mb - as could be expected with a zoom done in software, there is less detail. I played a bit with the zoom (never used it before, for doing near distance photos I find much easier to actually get the phone nearer to the object) and it can indeed throw the focus off, but doing the video/still image switch fixed it. @Escain said in Any solution to get decent photos?: several hypothesis compression: my guess is not, 4.5 Mb for a jpeg image is not very aggressively compressed if at all. beautifying filter: there is nothing of the sort in the app code, as it is using QT controls it could be integrated in these controls, don't know. problems with zoom: this could be the more likely idea. Maybe you could give a try to the photo app in Waydroid. When faced with the focus problems, before finding the switch to video trick, I found that it focused properly immediately for near distance photos.

I just received another call, and I experienced almost exactly the same behavior. The phone didn't respond to the power button, and the screen wouldn't turn off. However, after a reboot, the brightness level was normal, and everything is functioning as expected now. I'm currently on 24.04-1.1.

Dear all, I solved the "backup-issue" by mounting my Pixel 3a XL into my linux drive via ssh by sshfs [user@]host:[dir] mountpoint [options] (see also https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-mount-a-remote-filesystem-over-ssh-with-sshfs) Once the phone is a "normal" drive in the linux-system, rsync can be started normally and no rsync-daemon on the UT-device is necessary. Best regards Jörg

@killclique said in Guide to charge limiting your Fairphone 5: point me in the direction to make systemd unit file without changing the system from read-only? I gave some directions here for another hack and it's enabled on my phone since several weeks already. I don't know if it could really work (as you'll realize surely if you copy it as it is it will randomize your wifi Mac address, a different concern) since I have no real urge to do this at the moment. I'm unsure if it's really useful in fact, I'll have to ask a question on the Fairphone forum (and get an informed reply...) and I'm not even registered on their site.

@wgarcia Hi ! Sorry, I'm not sure to understand what you mean. This aGPS function (Xtra download) only download ephemeral, like tell Vlad. So it is a pure GPS function and it don't use WiFi or Bluetooth or scanning near cell tower. For the test please disable all GPS improvement system : So in Android settings : Improve Location Accuracy = off and Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning = off and not in High Accuracy mode. So you need to put you Android in Device only GPS to be sure to disable all other functions. It just download a satellite map at this moment. And we just need Internet data (mobile data or Wi-Fi) just one time a day. You can download the data in your home and use GPS after. We use SatStat to download aGPS (the first option in the menu). So you can do the experiment as you share at the top of the topic, or like this : I prefer this way, because we are sure that it don't use other function that ask an external server to give the location. Open Waydroid Disable GPS in Waydroid Start SatStat Download aGPS in SatStat (the first item (Recharger les données AGPS in French) like in the Vlad picture) Wait 30 seconds and after Turn off Wi-Fi and Mobile data Close SatStat Go outside Enable GPS in Android Start SatStat and look, verify that it found GPS (at the bottom) and look at the TTFF : Time To First Fix. It should be quicker than 1 minute. Is it possible for you to test it ? Thanks a lot
