Should I assume it will be a long time befre the network (samba) function will be working in file manager?
I understand there are threads that describe workarounds. I'm interested in knowing if this will soon be working in file manager.

It worked today, I was able to update my phone with the command.
@Moem said in Unable to update to 20.04 OTA-4 stable from 20.04 OTA-3 stable:
@dln949 The blog post also said:
OTA-4 will become available for the following supported Ubuntu Touch devices over the next days
But, this is the part of the blog post that made me think otherwise (bold emphasis added by me):
"If however you would like to receive the update immediately, turn on ADB access and issue the following command over adb shell :
sudo system-image-cli -v -p 0 --progress dots"
But, I guess "immediately" really doesn't mean "immediately"? Sincere question, not trying to be snarky, I just want to understand, and more importantly to be sure there isn't something wrong with my device.
@Lakotaubp Thanks.
I assumed that if the instructions were provided in the blog posting, that meant all was ready and available. Is that assumption incorrect?
I have 20.04 OTA-3 stable running just fine - as far as I know - on a Pixel 3A.
I decided to immediately, manually update to OTA-4. But it refuses to update, I always end up with the message, "Already up-to-date".
Why is it refusing to update? What should I do?
Here is terminal output:

@arubislander One final question:
Is the installation of apps in a focal container known to be problematic or spotty
and inconsistent at this time? Once I had the focal container established, installing applications like gedit and gnome-calculator worked normally with no problems. But an application like mousepad appeared to be installed, but I cannot find the icon for it in the "app drawer" - yet I can open the mousepad gui from the terminal.
Also, in the libertine setting, once I tap on the focal container I created, if I tap on the plus sign and select "Choose Debian package to install", I get this message: "No Debian packages available".
@arubislander I followed your suggested steps, and now when back on the stable channel I was able to install a container. Thanks.
I'm curious: What is your theory of why this worked, what was wrong on my device?
Not clear on something:
I switch to the release channel, then try installing a container. Suppose that works. Question: Do I delete that container before switching back to the stable channel?
@arubislander I can confirm that internet access on this device is working as expected.
@arubislander Rebooting did not help.
I ran the command, here is the error message output, I have no idea what it is trying to tell me:
E: No pkgdetails available; either install perl, or build pkgdetails.c from the base-installer source package
ChrootContainer.py:94: ERROR: create_libertine_container(): Failed to create container
libertine-container-manager:126: ERROR: create(): Failed to create container: 'destroy_libertine_container() missing 1 required positional argument: 'force' '
@lduboeuf Pixel 3a.
I don't know what to say: After a number of restarts done out of frustration, now it worked. I have a theory, but I wan't careful enough to watch what I was doing so I can't say this is a for sure thing: I THINK it worked when I turned off the VPN on the device.
Focal OTA-2 on a pixel 3a.
In Settings I tap on Libertine, and get to the "Manage Libertine Containers" screen. There I am confronted with this strange message:
"You do not have Classic Application Support configured at this time. Downloading and setting up the required environment may take some time and network bandwidth."
Well, ok, I have a lot of time, so I tap on the green "Get started" button, which presents a "Container Options window, at which I accept the defaults and then tap on the green "OK" button. But all that happens is that for the tiniest moment the screen looks like it is about to start installing the Focal Fossa container, but immediately just cycles back to the "Manage Libertine Containers" screen with that same message about the Classic Application Support.
What is "Classic Application Support"? What does it do, why do I need it?
How do I get "Classic Application Support"?
Why am I unable to add a libertine container? How do I fix things so I can install a libertine container?
Here is the terminal output, the process gets stuck at the last step as shown:
main1@system1:~$ adb shell
phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ sudo system-image-cli -v -p 0 --progress dots

@MrT10001 It is updated.
I just now saw this article and did some testing, and all works now. It must have been working on Ubuntu Touch because I tried accessing a tweet using Ubuntu Touch after Twitter made this change, but before I knew they made this change.
(Not sure which category this post should be in.)
As I'm sure we've all heard recently, Twitter is restricting access to itself. So, if I"m reading an article on my Ubuntu 22.04 desktop computer that includes a link to a Twitter post, if I click on that link to read what the Twitter post says now I cannot access it.
Strangely I've noticed that using my Ubuntu Touch device I still can successfully tap on such links and read the Twitter post.
What is different about Ubuntu Touch that this continues to work when it won't work on a desktop Ubuntu computer or a standard android device, etc.? Just looking to understand.
How do I know if I have to keep an app actively running in order to get notifications?
Examples: Dekko, movim, protonmail, telegram
Why won't browsers on ubuntu touch 20.04 play videos from vimeo?
When I try to play the video I hear the sound, but the video is simply a black box.
After updating to 20.04 I now am seeing this same problem on pixel 3.
Two questions:
How can I tell if this problem is being addressed by those people with the skills to address this? (I ask this in a positive way simply to know what the status is; my knowledge of such tech stuff is about 0.0.)
I also noticed that on the device I can activate "Developer Mode", but if I then leave that screen and then go back into that same screen right away, developer mode has been turned off for some reason. Is this a problem, and is it related to the mtp problem?
What is the official guidance for upgrading from 16.04 to 20.04?
I currently am running the latest update of 16.04 on my Pixel 3A. Should I do the upgrade to 20.04 by switching the channels, or should I wipe the phone and do a fresh installation of 20.04? Wondering what the official guidance is on this question.
