My sense is this might be an underlying Android issue. I have a LeNovo tablet that runs Android and exhibits this exact behavior only when plugged in but not always....

RE: Stuck on development release 930
I'm on 1+1 and got stuck at Recovery as above. I selected on a whim Android actions->Apply update and it installed fine.

Issue with outgoing/incoming calls
I have a 1+1 with 16.04 installed. In Canada with Rogers everything works fine. I'm back in Lebanon for a month, and bought a sim from MTC Touch. Everything works except incoming and outgoing calls. Attempts to recharge give a Invalid USSD Error. I've recovered and cleared the cache multiple times, I can set the carrier fine, to no avail. I'm wondering if there is any way to diagnose better the problem? The sim works fine from android and iphones. Any help is greatly appreciated.

RE: Choosing a phone
@ozzelot I moved from the N5 to 1+1 and it is solid with the camera zoom being a minimal issue for me. The N5 had a big flaw in a power switch that would decide to stop working from time to time. That becane the major reason I moved on to the 1+1.

RE: Buy a new phone for a daily use
OPO after years with nexus 4 and 5. I finally switched because the N5 has power button issues that made it very problematic. Very happy with the OPO.

RE: Nexus5 stuck at start
I finally moved from my Nexus 5 to the OnePlus One for this reason. I found there were 2 issues. One is the power button which is garbage the other is the power jack. So when mine would act up I would hold the phone a few inches above a table or counter and let it fall of its own weight against the hard surface. Both on its side and the bottom. Pressing the power button as horizontally as possible (I hope that makes sense) also seemed to make a difference. I recommend the 1+1, upgrade was painless. Good luck!

I also moved to the Nexus 5 and find it solid as a daily driver....
