    • RE: Recommended speaker I could plug in to my Meizu MX4?

@3arn0wl said in Recommended speaker I could plug in to my Meizu MX4?:

Any speaker plugged into your earphone socket should work... there are ones available which include an amplifier (for more volume) and those that don't... The ones with amplifiers are a bit heavier and bulkier...
I'm just wondering why the phone's speaker isn't working...?

I'm not 100% sure why it's stopped working, but the phone stopped giving audible notifications over about a 2 week period. I had replaced the battery about a couple of week earlier. One of my friends pointed out that the case wasn't on properly when he looked at it, and that it did look like there was a lot of pressure on some parts. I'm now guessing that I'd messed up putting the new battery in and I've physically damaged the phone.

Thanks for that. Ideally I'm looking for something small as I'm going to have it plugged in quite a lot. It doesn't need to be massively loud, as I can always plug it in to my normal speakers when I'm at home πŸ™‚

    • Recommended speaker I could plug in to my Meizu MX4?

      Hi,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a portable speaker that I could plug into my Meizu MX4? It's currently not making any noises out loud, but if I have headphones plugged in I can hear them. I thought plugging my phone into a speaker would be a good way around this problem as I keep missing calls as I don't hear an audible notification.

      Thanks,
      Naomi

Actually, it hasn't given me an audible notification at all today for various alarms I've set 😞

I can hear sounds if I plug headphones in, although I'm not sure about notifications, but the only sound I can hear otherwise is the alarm clock one.

No, I don't have that installed. I don't get notifications, or sound from videos etc but do have a working alarm clock!

    • meizu mx4 doesn't make notification sounds

      Hi,

My Meizu mx4 doesn't make notification sounds any more. This has been the case for about two weeks. I've just updated it. In Settings under Sounds it only has System Settings and Telegram listed. Both are ticked, but I don't get sound notifications either.

      Thanks!

    • turn off the notification light

      Hi,

I've had a look online, but can't seem to find out how to do this. How do I turn off the ?notification light that turns on when I get a text message/phone call/?telegram message.

If it's possible I'd like to turn it off at "night" i.e. between 9pm and 9am automatically.

      Thanks,

@mihael Argh! That's a horrible workaround. Thanks for the info. though, I was beginning to think I had got completely confused. I'm going to have to work harder on getting others to install Telegram instead.

Thanks! Just wanted to check it wasn't me not understanding something! How would I be able to search for known bugs so I can do that next time?

      Hi,

I've just updated to OTA-5 and now I can't search for contacts when I open the Phone app. I enter the name, press return and nothing happens 😞

    • Closing nano

      Hi,

I've had a very simple problem that I don't seem to be able to find a solution to. I've opened nano and typed in:

      print("hello")

Then I wanted to close the file. I can see at the bottom of the screen ^X to exit, which I've found out means control-X. I've tried typing that (didn't work), then clicking on the corresponding area on the screen, then scrolling to Nano on the menu and clicking on CTRL+X but still can't seem to get it to close. How do I do that? I'm sure there must be a simple answer, but I can't find it!

      Thanks,
      Naomi

    • Unable to access β€œMX4 Ubuntu Edition” Unable to open MTP device '[usb:001,012]

      Hi,

I'm trying to copy images from my Meizu MX4 to my desktop/laptop (which are both running Ubuntu 16.04). I've tried a couple of different cables, four different USB ports and two different computers but I seem to run into the same problem about 80-90% of the time I try to connect my phone! I get the error message:

"Unable to access MX4 Ubuntu Edition
Unable to open MTP device '[usb:001,012]'"

Is there any way around this? I've read that this is notorious with the MX4, but all I've tried doing so far is changing USB port and cables.

      Thanks,
      Naomi

@happyzenith Hi which device are you using?

      I'm using a Meizu MX4 with 15.04(r).

@dtarrant said in The last word I typed is always added into the next box when I click on it:

@happyzenith On my M10 HD tablet, I've discovered that if you go to System Settings, Language & Text and turn of all the autocorrect features the "last word typed" problem no longer persists.

Cool, thanks. I've turned off spell checking and word suggestions (and left auto correction on) and it seems to have worked πŸ˜„ Now all I've got to do is remember how to spell everything!

    • The last word I typed is always added into the next box when I click on it

      Hi,

I'm getting frustrated because the last word I type in the previous box is always added into a new box when I click on it. I end up having to delete the previous word each time ... which is a bit annoying.

For example: When I'm using mail.google.com I type Ben into the To: field and then when I click on the Subject: field I end up with Ben then whatever I'm typing e.g. BenHi

It happens on other websites too, but this one is the most irritating, probably because I use it most often. Is there any way to stop it happening?

      Thanks,
      Naomi

    • RE: Meizu MX4 magic-device-tool - I think I've done something wrong ... I'm stuck in a loop

Fab - all done! With lots of help from the lovely people on the UBports supergroup on Telegram πŸ˜„

Firstly I downloaded to my computer the recovery image file for Meizu MX4 from: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices#Working_with_ubuntu-device-flash

I needed to do this because it is a retail phone that shipped with Ubuntu installed already (and is currently running Ubuntu).

I rebooted into FASTBOOT (the bootloader) by pressing down on the volume button and power button at the same time and holding it until I could see =>FASTBOOT on the phone screen.

In the terminal on my computer I typed in: ubuntu-device-flash --server https://system-image.ubports.com touch --recovery-image recovery.img --channel ubports-touch/15.04/stable --bootstrap. If you have a different file name for the recovery image file you would need to put in a different file name where I've put recovery.img

On my phone I could then see a purple background and ubuntu logo. In the terminal window I could see a terminal output showing that it is pushing files.

Eventually the terminal output read "Rebooting into recovery to flash". The phone then reflashed and installed ... with me watching πŸ˜„

@lakota Is that different from the magic-device-tool? How can I download that to try? I've had a look and couldn't find it. I'm probably using the wrong search terms ...
