RE: Migration away from US tech platforms
@Moem I was contemplating making an approach to the EU to see if there was any possibility of obtaining seed funding for this project. Having been a user since 2015 (I think), it is great to see the effort and journey that this OS has been on.
It is obvious that the project needs far more funding if significant progress towards being a serious competitor to the big two is to be made. Unless some very rich philanthropist arrives the only two alternatives are to seek private investment or public investment. I suspect that the latter would be more desirable given some of the ethos behind the project. Private investment is unlikely as, for example, Canonical semi-jettisoned this project due to the difficulty of persuading enough hardware suppliers to offer UT as an viable alternative. That environment has changed significantly especially due to the recent misgivings over US tech domination in Europe as a whole. If I do make an approach to the EU I wanted to be sure that UBports wasn't already doing so.
Does this explanation answer your question?

Migration away from US tech platforms
Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place but I couldn't see where else to place this so...
I am just wondering whether anyone at Ubports has thought about the current mass movement away from US based computer platforms? We've just seen France undertake to adopt Linux and the European Parliament announced today a move to Qwant instead of Google as its default search engine..amongst many other national and pan -European actions.
The almost complete dominance of Apple and Google in mobile OSs is a major cause for concern. Ubports could well be placed to serve as a viable alternative for some. There's a long road ahead obviously but has anyone at Ubports made that first step to find out?

RE: Triangular signal strength indicator not functioning
Update:
I've just noticed that the signal strength indicator works only during a call but there is no function once a call is terminated.

Triangular signal strength indicator not functioning
Hi,
Currently running 24.04-1 on the daily channel.
Latest update (24.04-12026-04-24)This appears to have caused an issue with the triangular signal strength indicator which may sometimes briefly show a weak signal but it reverts to a blank very quickly and then that's it. The phone works receiving and sending calls and sms and also cellular data. It appears to be just the signal indicator malfunctioning.
Any one else have this issue?

Camera stopped working
My camera has stopped working. I don't know if this was an update or a device malfunction. Anyone else have this issue?
App loads, shows normal screen for 1/2 second, tries to start but crashes immediately.Poco X3 NFC

RE: UK cannot send sms with 4G/Volte enabled on |Lebara
@Eric-H Yes,I did all of those kind of things, even using the standard Vodaphone settings and nothing worked. As far as I know, SMS doesn't use APN settings anyway. I've even used another Vodaphone sim and that worked so it's definitely a Lebara issue.
Thank you for your advice, though.

UK cannot send sms with 4G/Volte enabled on |Lebara
POCO X3 NFC running 20.04
Hi,
Just moved from EE (UK) to Lebara UK (piggy backs on vodaphone) and I have an issue with sending SMS. Previously on the EE network sending SMS was fine. Now I have to switch off Volte (4g) manually in order to send SMS. If I don't it waits for 30 seconds or so and then indicates that the send operation failed.
I have tried the new sim in an iphone6 and it worked sending SMS with 4G enabled.
I obviously cannot get any sense out of Lebara as when I mention using UT they think I'm a Martian.
Just to reiterate, everything works except sending SMS. It doesn't matter whether wifi or cellular data are switched on or not; Volte has to be off in order to send SMS; receiving is no problem.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you

Digital Danish sovereignty
I was wondering whether anyone at UBports had thought of contacting the Danish government over this article? (https://www.zdnet.com/article/why-denmark-is-dumping-microsoft-office-and-windows-for-libreoffice-and-linux/). It appears that they are really serious about making this move and a none US based phone OS might be of significant interest. Is this the Danes taking back control?

RE: Support of Poco X3 Pro
@davidfr I use a POCO X3 NFC and it works brilliantly. The only bit missing so far is VOLTE which isn't a deal breaker here in the UK at the moment.
Kind regards

RE: Openstreetmap . no scrolling since update
It's now started working again after several weeks. Go figure.

RE: Dekko2 randomly occurring issues
I had a similar problem this week. (BQ 4.5). It kept crashing on reply to email. Half the problem was me because I had forgotten to update the phone with new outgoing server data but once this was done, it still kept breaking. Deleted Dekko and re-installed and issues have been resolved except for trying to change the email signature which won't update correctly. I suspect that Dekko has an issue with overwriting/updating configuration files, hence the need to reinstall and enter data afresh.

Openstreetmap . no scrolling since update
Since the last OS update, Openstreetmap will not allow scrolling either on my Aquarius 4.5 nor my m10 tablet. It's the same whether I load maps via the icon or via a url in the browser. Other maps scroll eg google and uNav. Anyone with any ideas?
