    • RE: Are JDI displays supported now?

I just tried installing it. Went quite a bit back an forth flashing stock android 9 and installed with the 0.9.1 installer. It finally worked after I made sure to use slot A. If I rebooted to slot A from TWRP before installing UT, it seems to work.

So I can confirm it is working with a JDI display for anyone else who are unsure.

    • RE: Does fingerprint scanner work on UT for Mi A2?

@magnargj Huh. Good to know that it should be possible to get it to work. Do you happen to remember the install process? What stock ROM did you have on your phone before installing for example. Did you set up a finger print on the phone before installing? Just brain storming here what I could try to make it work.

Maybe there's different manufacturers of the fingerprint sensor, and I'm unlucky which one I got.

    • RE: Does fingerprint scanner work on UT for Mi A2?

@ian Thanks for the response. I assume the menu you're talking about is the "privacy and security" menu in the settings app? I unfortunately can't find any fingerprint setting there. I've looked through every menu I can find on this phone.

Update: Searched on github issues and found this: https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues/1877
Looking at the linked issue it seems like fingerprint setting missing may have been a problem for a while. Looks like it is because of a proprietary library built for 15.04, no longer working on 16.04.

Perhaps the device features and usability list should be updated that the fingerprint sensor is not working.

    • Does fingerprint scanner work on UT for Mi A2?

The fingerprint reader is supposed to work from my understanding, but I have no way to configure a fingerprint. There is only options for swipe, code and passphrase in settings.

UT seems to be otherwise working correctly. I'm on the RC branch. But I have tried the stable branch before with no luck. FIY the fingerprint reader works just fine with any android ROM I've tried.

Has anyone been able to get fingerprint to work with UT on their Mi A2?

Unsure if it could be related, but is there a specific android 9 stock ROM I'm supposed to use before installing UT? I downloaded the latest stock ROM that is still android version 9 (ROM version 10.0.17.0). Found it here: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/jasmine/
Edit: When i installed the stock ROM i used fastboot, not recovery mode, could this be a problem?

    • RE: Mi A2 back to stock?

@nero355 I believe there are scripts in there that lock and some that doesn't. Don't remember exactly the name of the scripts, but it should be obvious by looking at the content of the script as it would be the last couple of commands in the scripts that does the locking. Should be safe to lock though (it is the stock rom after all). I locked mine when I did the same some time ago, before trying UT, didn't have any issue with locking. If you're using android you probably want it locked anyways or some apps will refuse to run.

    • RE: Are JDI displays supported now?

@mihael It's a particular manufacturer of LCDs. Not all Mi A2 phones come with the same display. There used to be an issue that Ubuntu Touch didn't work on Mi A2 with a JDI LCD.

    • Are JDI displays supported now?

I've avoided installing Ubuntu Touch on my Mi A2 as mine have the JDI display. However I saw that the disclaimer that JDI displays doesn't work, has been removed from the device page. Does that mean JDI display has been confirmed working on the latest version? I couldn't find any specific information about it.
