For IOS, Android and Windows Mobile, there are differences in the APN information and the way that it is entered with each of those platforms.
Since Mint Sim (the carrier) seems to have no clue about Ubuntu Touch (nor to have any inclination to correspond directly with customers on technical matters), just checking if I can send/receive pics could be a costly and time-consuming gamble for me.
However, since Mint Sims rates are so low, the reward is attractive. I might "bite the bullet" and buy a 3-month plan to see if I can make it work with my Ubuntu Touch phone.

I do not see "System Settings > Mobile > Carriers" in Ubuntu Touch, but I do see "System Settings > Network > Cellular."

To get full functionality, Mint Sim (the carrier) requires manual entry of some APN settings, in most cases.
