    • RE: "Contacts" features improvements

      Hi arubislander,
      Thank you for your reply.

      I did find requests on Github about the sorting possibilities on the name. I followed your advice and joined the ongoing requests => https://github.com/ubports/address-book-app/issues/12#issuecomment-552354416

      It would be a great pleasure to help of implementing the features but I have not the skills to do it, unfortunately.

      About my remark about the impossibility of exporting the address book, I just discovered that it is actually possible. I apologize for the mistake.

    • Contacts sorting

      Hi Everybody,

      I imported my contacts from my old Android phone to UT, no problem. But, there is no way to sort contacts by name. In the present application's contacts, this sorting is done only by first name..... Is there a way to change the sorting of all contacts? Or is there a better dedicated contacts application to do it?
      Thank you very much for your next answer.

    • To open and modify an Excel file in UT

      Hi Everybody,

      I am looking for an app to open (and modify) a .xls file in Ubuntu Touch. I have installed Libre Office Calc through Libertine but the Calc GUI is not usable in a Nexus 4 (too small scren).
      Before installing LO Calc, I've tried "Document Viewer" which is in OpenStore but if it's possible to open the file, no way to modify it.
      Is there anyone with another solution ?
      Thanks.

      @doniks said in Libreoffice and Firefox.:

      Going a bit off topic herexlsut can you use a simpler technical solution? like editing a text file with the ... five ? or so numbers you actually have to modify? does it have to be xls?

      Thanks for your answer. ☺
      In fact, it is a spreadsheet with equations. It is therefore an .xls file but can just as easily be an.ods file. However, I need the formulas....

    • RE: [Solved] Unable to complete manual installation of Ubuntu Touch

      Hi,

      I had a similar trouble as yours : unable to install UT => https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer/issues/1070
      In fact, I previously installed an unofficial rom of LineageOS => https://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/orig-development/rom-lineageos-16-0-nexus-5-t3921162
      To do it, I needed to resize the partition => https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79928889&postcount=190
      So, I have done a revert partitionning and everything went well, I was able to install UT.

      @flohack
      Thank you for this clarification; that's what I was presenting. I've already done quite a bit of research concerning a return to the original partitions. I also have this problem with a Nexus 5 that I've been trying to bring back to life for quite some time now...

      Many thanks for your reply.

      I put the problem on hold for now. Indeed, I lent the phone that is under /e/ to someone who needed it.
      Thank you all for your interventions.

      @rondarius and all
      Thank you all for your messages.

      I must point out that I am also a confirmed Linux user and that I've been using ADB (and fastboot) for quite a while now. I'm sure, however, that I still have a lot to learn (the more I know, the more I can measure the extent of my ignorance).

      I know these manips pretty well (those described in the Rondarius's post) because I've already practiced them quite a few times. And thanks for the link to the official stock Rom; I compared the checksum with what I've already downloaded and they are identical. But, you're right, you should always retrieve the data from the sources without going through an intermediary.

      But my question is not about the procedure to be applied to flash the phone. What worries me is that apparently the partitioning of this Nexus 4 has been modified; and I fear possible problems when flashing the official rom stock without having made certain prior arrangements. I had a bad experience with a Nexus 5 that is currently bricked (I'm not desperate to bring it back to life...).

      Do you think that flashing the google Rom will restore the original partitioning?

      Thank you for your help Flohack.
      And do you think that flashing a stock ROM will resize the cache?
      I found this => https://androidmtk.com/download-google-nexus-stock-rom-models
      Would you know which firmware to choose between 4.4.2 (JDQ39) ... 5.1.1 (LMY48T) ?

      I'm a bit suspicious, I had a bad experience with a Nexus 5 on which I had installed several OSes (including UT) and when I handed over an official stock ROM, the phone became a brick.

      @keneda
      Yes, I saw that, but what should we do?
      As I explained, on this phone after trying unsuccessfully to install UT, I installed a TRWP recovery and the rom /e/ and this without any problem, so there is space to install it.
      Why can't the installer manage to take the space that exists?

      Hi,

      I'm desperately trying to install UT on a Nexus 4 but the installation doesn't succeed, see this post => https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer/issues/1716
      At the end of the failed installation, I stay stuck on the recovery screen.

      In November 2019, I also had problems installing via the UBPorts installer. I had managed to get out of it by going through a manual installation => https://forums.ubports.com/topic/3340/solved-nexus-4-impossible-to-install-ut-via-the-ubports-installer-tool/3
      At this time it was possible, the images were made available. It's a pity that this manual installation is no longer possible!

      I specify that the phone is not bricked, since I installed a TRWP recovery and /e/.

      After flashing "twrp-3.3.1-HH-hammerhead.img", through the TWRP terminal did you first resize :

      hh_repart -m

      Reboot and then, still through the TWRP terminal :

      hh_repart -r
