But I'm referring to Samsung's Linux on DeX project, which runs a modified version of Ubuntu (developed by Canonical) in a container, and already has a Unity-like desktop, which if I'm not mistaken, is based on MATE. Also, Samsung Linux on DeX allows installing at least a few other distros and DEs. You also have to get Mir & Unity8 working on android, which would in itself be a huge task. Yep, 100% agreed. I'm under the impression that the above mentioned Unity-like desktop (because it's based on MATE) doesn't support Wayland, and so can't (yet) rely on Mir as a compositor. Whether Linux on DeX is currently capable of using a DE that supports Wayland, I don't know. But I imagine that if it's not yet possible, Samsung is working on it.

@UniSuperBox Hello if we need to click to run the desktop games why use libertine? me I think (and that's what I see on github) that it would be necessary to put the material acceleration on libertine because half of the desktop app does not launch .. (I tried 0AD) ben he goes off desuite good after I support the project at 100%;) so I do not criticize at all but it will be cool the new version of mir and Unity 8! good luck !

My understanding is that there are still some issues with graphics with mir/unity8, but it's being worked on. The rootfs for the PinePhone is also built from edge channel, so it's using new unity8/mir already. I think it's also using the arm64 rootfs, so there may be some additional hindrances from that, as Canonical never released a fully working 16.04 arm64 image on anything.

Sorry to hear of Marius' grandfather passing away. I would not expect him to be present tonight, but I pray he and others are comforted in their loss. Regarding Pinephone I wonder if there is any update on how it is performing / what (if any) blockers for full usability (camera / power consumption / mobile network / etc.) there are or how it is looking?
