Loquiim

Hi!
Is anybody using LoquiIM as a XMPP client?
I tried to connect to jabber.org but with no success .

I got an answer from the developers:
That seems to be a package specific issue, please direct your question
directly to the developer who put the ubports package togetherAccording to openstore the developer should be Bjarne Ross. Is he active here in the forum?

@redi loquiIM is not maintained anymore since whatsapp dropped their support to the Nokia phone model that LoquiIM was relying in order to make the workaround
-
Thats a pity. At the moment there is no usable xmpp client available. And loqui should work with xmpp.

@redi Whatsup support was removed in version 0.6.0 but that only affects that service, LoquiIM should work (current version is 0.6.6). You can see this in the changelog (https://open-store.io/app/loquiim.nfsprodriver) and if you have any issue with LoquiIM you can file a report at https://gitlab.com/nfsprodriver/im/issues
Check out it isn't reported already though.
On the other hand, have you tried https://open-store.io/app/eu.movim.ut.movim and/or https://open-store.io/app/im.kaidan.kaidan?

Just wanted to second Kaidan, its not perfect, no group chats, quite a few bugs, but its native qt, works on ubuntu touch, android and plasma mobile, so hopefully it'll gain more contributes.

@PhoenixLandPirat Kaidan is not really usable:
The textfield is hidden when writting a message. Sometimes a message gets lost. Files cannot be send. The communication is not synchronize with other clients, ...@advocatux I wrote a message to the loqui developer. They told me, that it seems to be a ubports problem, loquiim itself works fine.
I did not try Movim yet.

@redi I absolutely agree, you can only do none-encrypted direct messages at the moment, and until Ubuntu Touch updates the version of qt, we aren't getting any updates for a while.
HOWEVER, it is one of "our" apps that has quite a few devs working on it, and seemingly somewhat Beaver-ishly on.
Files are being merged soon here
Synchronization is here
And the keyboard bug is HereGeneral issues/all issues are here
So yeah, I agree, Kaidan isn't really usable atm, however, I have a lot of faith in the developers to improve it, and it will be very usable by the time we have a qt 5.12 on our devices.
(looks like Kaidan might be getting Multimedia support tomorrow)
