[Solved thanks to Jan's help] Stuck on the nexus5 powered by Ubuntu screen
-
Hey!
So I downloaded the dev image update that was tantalizingly there in system>updates this evening - 90mb or so...
And now my N5 is stuck on the "nexus5 powered by Ubuntu" screen.
I've volume control+on/off switch to turn it off and on again, but it's still stuck there...
Am I going to need to reflash it in the morning?
-
Same here, on E 4.5 about half an hour ago, the update was 35 mb. Pwr and Vol up brings up the boot menu, choosing recovery had no effect.

@3arn0wl
Same thing happened to me today on my BQ e4.5.
Sadly not even flashing a fresh image solves the problem.After a successful flash the phone reboots and it is stuck on BQ powered by ubuntu screen.

Just read yesterdays post of UniversalSuperbox (Dalton Durst), who recommended to switch from devel to rc-channel. but yesterday i had no time to study that and missed it. The phone is in a boot loop, can't turn it of. Any idea?

@Gerd
No, my phone is in a boot loop too. -
@Vehi_MV Phone is back! Flashed it with the latest installation tool (0.4.3 beta) and rc-image but without the wipe-option. Everything is at it's place again. happy again
-
@Gerd
I managed to make mine work too with latest installation tool (0.4.3 beta) and rc-image. -
This is why no one recommends the devel channel for daily use
But at least it's quite easy to reflash without losing data anyway using the awesome installer -
Apologies if my comment came over as a complaint, @kugiigi - it was meant as a statement of facts and a plea for a little help.
I'm on dev in the full knowledge that things can go wrong... It's not a big deal for me when they do (which is very rarely, it has to be said.)
-
@3arn0wl Yeah it's fine.
It's just a reminder to whoever reads this thread
I know the devel or even the edge channel has been rarely broken but it's still a possibility and sometimes there are development activities that gets delayed or cannot be done immediately because they have to consider those that are using those channels but to me that shouldn't happen. Do whatever they need to do on those channels. It's what they are for. No need to worry about users -
@kugiigi Yes I agree.
Another reason I posted was to alert people of a potential issue.
-
Delighted to announce that I too have now managed to reflash my device to RC. Has anyone braved going into Dev from RC yet?
-
@3arn0wl I sometimes like to take some risk; so after reading your warning message, I immediately try to change channel to dev from rc.
I encountered no problem.
-
Thanks, @libremax! I might give it a go then.
-
Woot! Woot @libremax! it worked perfectly. Thanks for your encouragement!
