RE: Daily usable ?
I'm using my BQ Aquaris E4.5 as daily driver from the begining (2015). It's ok for me, there are some anoyances from time to time, but nothing major. I must add, that I switched from a feature phone in 2015 to Ubuntu touch, and if UBports had not taken over, I would switch back to feature phone if my E4.5 died. For me at this moment there is no alternative to UBports in smartphone OS market.
If you are comming over from Android, IOS or maybe Windows, you must ask yourself if you can live withot the apps you are used to and are not available on UBports. OS itself is quite good. -
RE: Web App generator
@Bastos
It is a script and you can download it from here:
https://github.com/Winael/ubuntu/blob/master/ubuntuphone/webapps/Reboot/alternate-webapp-generator.zipIt uses a config.cfg file, which is included in the zip.
You just have to put your webapps info in config file and run the script. -
RE: webapp generator .clicks to get installed in the phone?
Hi,
So I tried to install the click package you created and had the same problems as you. I get a message that webapp is installed successfully, but there is no icon.After some trial and error runs with your config file I managed to get a wrking click package.
It looks like the namespace and app_name should not start with capital letter.
Try to change:
export namespace="Nampespace"
export app_name="Riot"
to
export namespace="nampespace"
export app_name="riot"and you should get a working click package.

RE: webapp generator .clicks to get installed in the phone?
Hi.
Can you try to create some web-app that doesn't contain any of your personal data and send the config file and created click package to me.
I will try to install the click package and see if it works, if not I will try to create the click package with help of your config file.
That may give us some clue where the problem is. -
RE: [Discussion] File Manager improvements
You allready made some great points for file manager.
- open with
- consitency: to swipe right for quick delete and swipe left for other quick action
- zip/unzip
- send to mail
I miss a split view, something like in Dolphin, so you can have two folders opened at the same time and move or copy files easily between those folders.

RE: "The" Bluetooth Thread
Tried the 2013 Ford Fiesta (SYNC) unit with BQ Aquaris E4.5.
It pairs OK, reconnects OK, can make calls and receive calls. However i get no sound and the person on the other end doesn't hear me, so microphone doesn't work either.

@3arn0wl
Same thing happened to me today on my BQ e4.5.
Sadly not even flashing a fresh image solves the problem.After a successful flash the phone reboots and it is stuck on BQ powered by ubuntu screen.

RE: Bug with the Music app
Hi.
I just tried that, and I can confirm the behaviour you described. (BQ Aquaris E4.5)
The Music App freezes, but the sound dropdown menu that also controls the media player still works. -

RE: Dimming the display without locking
@guru
So I was playing around with dconf and it looks like the value for "activity-timeout" set with dconf does work.
It allso works after reboot. It is very strange that "dim-timeout" doesnt work.
I allso noticed that when changing "sleep when idle" in battery settings, that "dim-timeout" is always set 10 sec les than "activity-timeout".Edit:
It looks like "dim-timeout" is allways 10 sec less than "activity-timeout" even if you change "activity-timeout" with dconf.
If you for example change "activity-timeout" with dconf to 20 sec the display wil be dimmed after 10 seconds regardless what "dconf dump /com/ubuntu/touch/system/" says. -
RE: Dimming the display without locking
@guru
Hi. You can set the brightness of display from terminal.
For example if you want 50% brightness you can use the following command:
echo 50 > /sys/class/leds/lcd-backlights/brightness -

RE: OTA2 'killed' my phone: bq E4.5 - no wifi & no mobile
@UKPhil
Hi. I had a similar experience with my bq E4.5. But on r1 (about 2 months after update). One day everything worked OK, and the next day no SIM card was detected. I took SIM cards out and cleaned them. It took 2 or 3 retrys before I got it working again. I'm pretty sure your problem is hardware related and has nonething to do with r2.
