I translate to Italian, very short post just to say this.

Hi Guys,
some update, we will install a translation platform (Weblate probably) to make it much easier for you. You dont need to fork anything on Github, just do the real work on the translation.
Depending on progress I think I can get it up&running until end of week. I keep you updated...

It is more or less live!
Go to https://translate.ubports.com/ and help us translating. More and more projects will appear by time, so come back oftenBR

@Flohack, congrats.
Trying to login with an Ubuntu account but a pop-up appears saying the data will be sent using an insecure channel or something like that.
Is the third party login fully functional?
Edit: Ok I've seen in the Telegram group that the problem is with Cloudflare SSL interception.
-
@Flohack It seems very nice.
If a language does not appear in the list, does it mean you're not looking for translations to that language?
-
Hello
First of all thank you for your great job.
I participated in the translation of the ubuntu phone in Breton.
My mexus 4 runs perfectly. I wanted to know if I switched it to ubports is what the translation will always be available?
Is it possible to retrieve the work done already or must it all redo?
Thank you for your answers,
Regards, -
@hans1977se No, it shows only the languages that are already created for all the projects, if you want to add a new one, there is a button inside each project page to do so

@VR29 The translations are stored in the source code of the Apps and so they are not so much depending if you use Canonical image or UBports. Was that the question?
You can check on our translations site if your translations are still there => not all Apps are imported right now, we are still in beta testing

@Flohack Hello,
thank you for your reply. Are the phonebook, messaging, and the OS in general for you applications ?
How can I access to your translations site ?
thank you, -
@Flohack Hi, tnaks for setting the translation up!
Just one quick question: If it says "The translation is currently blocked for updates" is there a way to get notified once it is editable again or do we need to check regularly? I guess the duration of this blockade is very dependent on which app is being updated or can you give a broad figure how long this will take?
Thanks again & br
-
Hi,
currently only file manager is blocked because @sverzegnassi is doing a major overhaul on it, and it makes no sense to translate now already. I am not sure if you get an email but you can try to subscribe for all possible options xD
-
@Flohack, I'm still getting this message when trying to login to https://translate.ubports.com/ with my Ubuntu account.
(Translation: The information you've entered in this page will be sent through an insecure connection and could be read by third parties. Are you sure you want to send this information?).
-
@advocatux Yes I am waiting for @mariogrip to turn off the Cloudflare for this subdomain

@Flohack, OK thank you.

Translators!
OpenStore is joining in on our Weblate, find it here: https://translate.ubports.com/#list-openstore-projects
Happy translating
-
@advocatux Can you try now, we tried to repair it today...
-
@Flohack, after clicking in Ubuntu under "Third party registration", I've entered my info to login and there isn't a error message now but I'm just redirected to https://translate.ubports.com/accounts/register/
So no successful login.
Edit 1: after entering my Ubuntu info to login it starts this https://translate.ubports.com/accounts/complete/ubuntu/?janrain_nonce=2017-07-04T21:03:XXXXXXXX (I put X's instead of session ID) but I'm not logged.
Edit 2: There's no problem login with Ubuntu in the old URL https://ubpweblate.tnvcomp.com/

Yeah I need to decide for a domain xD
Let me see if I can fix this today...BR

I started my first ever application translation in a not yet existing language today. I knew it was going to be a bit labor intensive, but i think some of it could maybe done with a script.
I think cities and countries should be very suitable for script translation. Has anyone here done that with script? What would be the best way to do it? Are there any scripts around that i could just modify a bit?
Or the best is to just see it through to the end the manual way this first time and for next app just use the automatic translation feature?
-
I have been through the manual way now, and after that i started to investigating the script idea more.
It was actually not so much to be written into the script, and i think the output is actually quite a good start when i compare it with the manual translation.
The script takes the po-file and the target language as parameters and prints out the new po-file with translations in the terminal, so it can of course also be redirected to a file instead.
I think the nicest would be if there was an option on the server to run a script like this when starting a translation in a not yet existing language, but as it is now i think running the script with the po-file from the server and then upload the output file to the server seems to be the least amount of work to make a translation from scratch.
