Normal linux apps

@stan Not a problem we all need to start somewhere and with different levels of knowledge and learn. We are a helpful bunch so don't be afraid to ask.

Welcome here @stan!
As @Lakotaubp already indicated you can normally trust apps coming from openstore. Almost all of them are open source, so you could look at their code to check what they are doing and how. You can trust teleports especially, as its a core app (meaning its also published by ubports, so if you trust the os you trust teleports too ;-)). -
@hummlbach thank you so much for your answer
-
@hummlbach may i ask you please if there is a way to filter the apps by the publisher
-
@stan
In the OpenStore app, in the search box under the discover tab, type author: followed by the name of the author you're looking for e.g. author:Dan Chapman -
@3arn0wl thank you so much.
the reason i'm asking in this article : https://ubports.com/blog/ubports-blog-1/post/ubuntu-touch-safety-architecture-208
the uAdblock is by Marius Gripsgaard but in openstore i found the publisher is malte kiefer -
@stan
i must admit I thought Marius was the author, but I may be wrong... -
i can only find one option will download it anyway
-
@stan
yeah! go for it. it does,a very good job! -
@3arn0wl thank you for your continuous support

@stan Marius brought it to the openstore originally, but Malte took over the maintenance. uAdblock is another interesting type off app. For some reason (i think it needs to write a file outside its "sandbox") its unconfined, means its basically allowed to do everything. These kind of apps must not be closed source and are reviewed by Brian Douglass ("UBports App Lead Maintainer") before they go into the open store.
Another way to search for apps by a specific author is to find at least one app published by the author in the openstore app and then press the "More by XY" list item. -
@hummlbach thank you so much for the information really appreciate it,
the community is amazing, full of kind people willing to help
