What folder did you put the files in? While connected via a cable the device only exposes a hand full of folders to the computer. Anything placed anywhere else is only visible from the computer if you've enables ssh on your phone and browse to it from your computer over sFTP.

@arubislander or through adb shell, which is easier

            Hi arubislander.
Could I use just regular FTP?
Would uFTP & / or WifiTransfer do the job?

How can you trust that an app really won't send some company your location data, when you tell it not to? The only way you can trust a program not to do something it isn't supposed to do is if it is free software. ~ RMS

              Hi emphrath.

Could you elaborate? Would doing that mean I could just connect the phone to my PC via a USB cable and browse the phones files without restrictions?

@Opolork that's exactly it. First enable developer mode in ut tweak tool. Then plug in the cable and run "adb shell" in a terminal. You'll then be running a shell in the device, from where you can freely browse (might require sudo for some folders) that's it. To copy / paste files from device to computer, use adb push or pull - depends.

                  My workaround for the problem:

After recording something with the Recorder, click the Share symbol in the top right corner, select File Manager and select the Download folder.
Then connect phone via USB and you will find the recording in your Downloads folder.

@Opolork indeed, as @magdesign said, just selecting one if the folders that are exposed to the computer (Music, Videos, Documents is Downloads, to name a few) will make your files accessible from your computer.

When I open the file manager to the directory (it says phablet at the top) - with Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos folders - it says 'Restricted access' and has an Unlock button. I use my PIN to unlock it. Is that normal?

I shared the .ogg recording in the Downloads folder and it shows on my phone but when I connected to my PC with the USB cable - nothing is in the Downloads folder from my PC view.

The behavior you're describing is a bit strange.
When you tap on the share icon you select the File manager then you have choose a folder and then tap on the "V" check sign in the upper right corner.
No authentication is required on my phone.

I guess you're on stable, but with what phone ?
Now that I think about it, it may be a bug with the arm64 version... It's a new version so there may be some issues.

                          Update:

I left my phone attached to my PC. Enabled flight mode (probably nothing to do with it). Hit phone button to turn off display. I tried my computer again and the .ogg file was now viewable from my PC file manager. I was able to copy it over without issue and it played fine.

Yes, this is normal, although there are a few devices that do not exhibit this behavior any longer since the code from the edge channel made it over to the main channels. In any case, this is the behavior all the original devices had.

Today, there was an update for the Recorder app. I tried again to move a recorded file to my PC - this time it worked even better - my phone was left on. No issue. πŸ™‚
