If you guys could help me get this phone working I would be more than happy to make a donation and I would be ever grateful. I know that you all are not doing this to get rich. I have now spent many many hours trying to get this to work, and now I have nothing to show for this, except a broken phone.

@Edward-Wilhelm Looks like your getting somewhere at last. Let me catch up a bit and will see what we can do. Your nearly there now. Normally restarting the installer does the trick from here and choose the wipe option. As long as the installer is showing pushing files all is ok.If not just check adb devices still detects the device for me please.

The device is no longer recognized by the computer.

Also big thanks to @Lakotaubp and @Keneda for all the help so far. You have been awesome.

@Edward-Wilhelm Is that on your Mint or your brothers pop one. Not sure why that happened.

@Edward-Wilhelm and you installed both ADB and fastboot on the pop one? Can you double check that. T

                    I did this:

                    sudo apt update
                    sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot

                    Then you type

                    adb devices

                      running adb devices gives:
                      List of devices attached

                      • daemon not running; starting now at tcp:5037

@Edward-Wilhelm So if you rerun the installer what happens. Does it still stop at the same point. Can you see in the terminal what stops working.

It doesn't recognize the phone automatically, so I manually choose one plus one.
Then it tells me to go into boot loader mode by holding power button and up button
I do that, and the phone cuts off so that I can no longer see the UB ports screen.
The phone then turns back on to UB ports screen.
The installer says waiting for device, and then eventually it says the connection has been lost.

@Edward-Wilhelm Will the phone boot to anything when not connected to the pc. Can you get it to recovery clear the cache and reboot.

The only thing I can do is turn the phone on and off by holding down the power button. When the phone is on it has the powered by ubuntu screen. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether the phone is plugged in or not, however the phone does turn itself on when I connect the cable.

                                @Lakotaubp Okay hold on.
I held the down button and power button and got to UB ports recovery.

@Edward-Wilhelm Good so you have that. In android actions clear cache then factory reset and try again maybe with a different usb cable.

Okay I did that, and reb-booted. Now I am back to the powered by ubuntu screen. I am no longer able to get back to recovery mode.

I did the down keystroke/power button combo several more times, and I was able to get it back to recovery mode.

@Edward-Wilhelm try leaving the phone in recovery then connect to the pc and just restart the installer and see how far you get. You've not had any battery issues at all have you?

I got the installer to recognizes the device again. It then told me to hold down button + power which I did. Then the connection was lost.
