Daily usable ?

I'm using my BQ Aquaris E4.5 as daily driver from the begining (2015). It's ok for me, there are some anoyances from time to time, but nothing major. I must add, that I switched from a feature phone in 2015 to Ubuntu touch, and if UBports had not taken over, I would switch back to feature phone if my E4.5 died. For me at this moment there is no alternative to UBports in smartphone OS market.
If you are comming over from Android, IOS or maybe Windows, you must ask yourself if you can live withot the apps you are used to and are not available on UBports. OS itself is quite good. -
The main problem is that there are no serious applications and the operating system is very slow compared to any phone with Android. And a user can not pay 500 € for a new phone and a change the operating system to bring a disappointment, that's for sure .

I have been using UBports stable on my Nexus 5 since stable was launched (and legacy before that). It is my daily driver and it suits me very well. My requirements are not high - phone, text, satnav (OK but not as good as with Android), browsing, calendar, email, social networking (G+, Telegram, Twitter), a few webapps.

I run a BQ E4.5 since March 2015 as my daily phone. Meanwhile, also my wife and my 11 years old son do. It has all the apps we need (Dekko, Telegram, browser, sms, phone calls, cam, uNav, ...) and, even more important, it is free of spy ware and phoning-home apps. I do not need FB and What's Ape and so I really do not miss them.

What exactly is a "serious application" for you and which one do you miss?
For the BQ E4.5 I payed in 2015 around 150 Euro. I know, it is out of stock, but maybe one can find secondhand devices, as I could for my son. And a forth device someone sent to me as a gift and I switched this already to UBports.

@guru I also have 2 children and I assure you that they do not want this operating system.
And do you know why?
Because there are no applications or do you intend to return to Stone Age? -

Because there are no applications or do you intend to return to Stone Age?What children feel good or bad, depends a lot from the environment, for example of education, propaganda SPAM, TV, etc.
Re/ Stone Age, this was a nice TV serie years ago, but has nothing to do with this thread and does not answer my serious question I asked you.

@guru You have small child answers, how do you want people to use this operating system?
Slow, slow ... and there are no good applications, whether you want it or not. -

By showing and explaining zthem the big advantages.
Slow, slow ... and there are no good applications, whether you want it or not.
You have wrong and useless answers. There are a lot of good apps: Dekko, uNav, ...
Again, what exactly do you miss? -
I think other phones are superior in most ways, but there is no other phone that i feel as good to use as an Ubuntu Phone. I think it works well enough and is also constantly improving.
I'm very happy for all positive contributions to make it better, including constructive criticism.
Thanks for all the nice contributions so far, and keep up the good work!

fmulcar does not like our beloved phone system. He is trolling us for quite a while along the ubuntu-phone-list. He should stay with the system of his choice. Keep him outside, his comments were at least useless and sometimes offending. Just my opinion, hope it was not too harsh. Have a nice day and ignore him.

I see what you mean, and i think it will probably always be like that. Some people prefer spending time on the things they don't like rather than like. I'll surely have a nice day. Have a nice day, you too (and all the rest of you).

I use my fairphone 2 since 3 month as daily drive with UBports UT and I am very happy with it. Battery, connectivity and speed is comparable to android. Some minor bugs are already there like the led is not working and sometimes apps have no access to the sensors after coming from background.
The major core apps are available and even my smartwatch (pebble time round) is working. So I could recommend UBports as daily driver.

I've notified fmulcar about the Ubuntu Code of Conduct that we practice. Sorry about the interruption here.

I bought my Pro5 in first week of dec, 2016. This was an Android version, originally. I installed Touch on one-day device. I have used Touch until apr of 2017... after it I reinstall Android...
pro: I love GUI of Touch, no ads/spy/etc, convergence was amazing, base apps are well designed and easy handling of base apps.contra #1, overall/base: bugs and GUI/phone random reboots, no notification services
contra #2, ~400EUR phone point of view: missing apps (you know what I mean...from offline navigation to social media)
contra #3, "come on guys, it is 2017!!!" point of view: no online banking, online pay (parking/road toll/tickets/food/etc), NFC paySo, if you have base reqs for a phone then you can use Touch, as I used it. You will love it. But before install Touch look around what apps do you need and are there required apps for Touch.
