F(x)tec Pro1-X smartphone with keyboard & ubuntu touch pre-installed on indiegogo

@kugiigi Ah, maybe I haven't posted the best link.
Try going to XDA forum announcement, scroll down to the bottom of page for a link box to the offer.
https://www.xda-developers.com/pro1-x/XDA were keeping this under wraps until yesterday's announcement and my reaction was the same: "how come no news here?" Would it be a GSI installed do you think?

Nice surprise. Nice device.
Any clarification from the UBports management team would be welcome. -
@kugiigi UBports is not mentioned either in the press release or on the indiegogo site.
It is therefore not the same case as PinePhone or VollaPhone where contributions from UBports and agreement between entities were official. -
However Marius (founder of Ubports) was clearly involved as he was mentioned in the developer Q&A video and I think he also previously showed the older model as something upcoming.
It's definitely a nice device, but the price point makes it not an instant buy for me. I miss my N900 though

It's good to see that Ubuntu Touch is gaining in popularity. Congratulations UBports.
-
@libremax I think UBports was mentioned there or at least Ubuntu Touch. It seems pretty official partnership to me and if the renders are real, Yumi might be printed at the back of the phone. It's a really exciting news indeed. I was about to checkout and get one but I looked at my recently purchased Xperia X and said to myself, I love that size and it works well and smooth to my liking and it's like 1/6 of the price so no, at least for now
-
@kugiigi Ubuntu Touch is not UBports and precisely Yumi is not either the UBports logo.
-
@libremax It is the "mascot" of the UBport community though. Anyway, let's not read too much from it. I guess they just chose to use the term Ubuntu Touch and it's mainly a partnership with XDA.

@kugiigi "official" words from UBports twitter account:
"Both ports mentioned on the initial tweet of the thread were made by the community (@thefxtec and @DanctNIX), not by us, we provide documentation, and some assistance to enable the community to work on ports as much as we can."
-
Hi,
yes to confirm once more, this was not our work. We are looking into a cooperation with fxtec of course, but we are not participating in core development or sales. @domubpkm is this answering your question
-
@Flohack Yes, thank you. I am sure you (the team) will share any useful information with us in due course (UBports installer for this phone for example).
