People, is there a chance that something like this could be ported to UT?

The project you mention is a webapp.
It uses the website from facebook and adapt it's look'n'feel to mobiles and tablets.

Similar apps already exists in the open store:
          https://open-store.io/app/fmessenger.hankamotz
          https://open-store.io/app/pesbuk.kugiigi
          https://open-store.io/app/sailbook.sailbook

@applee The first app doesn't actually work. I'm using the other two apps (both are amazing) but the UI doesn't look (or have the same functions) as the Messenger app. The app which I posted definitely looks and behaves like FB Messenger but you can't receive any notifications yet.
But I understand what you are saying about it being a webapp.

Scratch everything I said. I've found it in the settings of the app to switch to a desktop mode and it's the thing I was looking for. Thank you.

@branja6 Soon, I'll be putting an option to always use desktop version of messenger in the Messages menu. Hopefully, I can also find a way to have some kind of notifications.

By your app being a Webapp, it will have the same limitations as other webapps regarding notification, use of microphone or camera...

But on the plus side, CSS can be used for an UT app if someone is willing to adapt it.

@applee I understand. Nevertheless, it feels great using UT. Apps or no apps, I have pretty much everything I need. ❤

Hi, I don't know about the others, but at the moment I have no way to use Facebook messages on UT.

And what about creating an app based on libpurple libraries?
It had occurred to me before, but I knew it would be a lot of work.
                    Something like this:

Libpurple can do a lot of protocols, including Facebook:

@x-dub - The Sailfish webapp available in the Open Store allows you to read and send text and attachments for Facebook Messenger on UT.

                      Best regards,

@totalsonic Which webapp do you think exactly?

https://open-store.io/app/com.ruben.carneiro.webapps.webapp-facebook - The messages trigger a link to download the messenger app for android.

                        https://open-store.io/app/pesbuk.kugiigi - Messages display a message about a non-existent page.

                        https://open-store.io/app/sailbook.sailbook - Messages display a message about a non-existent page.

https://open-store.io/app/fmessenger.hankamotz - After running this webapp, the screen will remain white. It used to work. But it was incredibly slow and the controls were not ideal.

Phone: bq Aquaris E4.5 and bq Aquaris E5

@x-dub You can use the desktop version of messenger by enabling desktop in Pesbuk. However, I see that you're using bq E4.5/5, and I don't think it'll work well especially that even those with more RAM has problems running it smoothly.

@x-dub - I use https://open-store.io/app/sailbook.sailbook without a problem for sending text and attachments on my Meizu Pro 5 running OTA-15 RC.
