Recommendation for SD card encryption software on Ubuntu touch?
-
For instance a container encryption of the SD card? Preferentially a software which is also available for Windows 10, so that the SD card can also be read and decoded on a Windows 10 PC?

Well... there is not.

@keneda @Peter-Gamma the following is still relevant and working on some phone: https://forums.ubports.com/post/7444
See https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues/1107 for more details and how to check if your phone can support cryptsetup.

I don't think he wants to encrypt /home/phablet , but SD card.

@keneda the same method is applicable, i used to have my sdcard encrypted on my FP2 using cryptsetup, terminal is required at each reboot to enter the passphrase

@tera many thanks, very helpful. But do you speak of internal or external SD card? Do you have problems writing to external SD card on Ubuntu Toch? There are some on Android. I use writing to external card daily, and can then acess it on Windows 10, which is very comfortable, no synching to dangerous clouds necessary. But the most recent device which I could find which can do this is a Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android 4.4. from 2014. With more recent Android phones, I always failed. I use a special phone for this. Why not to encrypt it completely with Veracrypt (I'm a big fan of Veracrypt, you can encrypt your phone even during a phone call ). I miss a more contemporary solution to write to external SD cards.

@peter-gamma Please keep in mind my comments here https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5356/full-disk-encryption-nexus-5/24. Thanks

@peter-gamma I think you've been told that you can't use Veracrypt on Ut and encrypt it, nothing you can do on your mobile.
There is one thing you can do yourself, if it is so important for you to encrypt a micro SD, I see that you want to have information and not share it in case you lose it.
I suppose you want to use the micro SD inside your phone, either Android or Ubuntu touch, well you can have Veracrypt, but not use it from the phone,
is the same option as if you want to use an operating system on a micro SD,
With this you will see how to put an operating system in a micro SD that you then put in your phone,
IMPORTANT: watch how the partitions are made, do it the same way and add a partition at the end of the microSD in fat32 for use only with Veracrypt, use a 128Gbs micro SD.
The good thing about this is that you have your Linux operating system with you, the Veracrypt partition added and a partition that uses your mobile.
You will be able to carry it in your micro SD but use it from your PC or from the operating system you have installed in your microSD.
I'm sending you a link not to extend myself, I hope this option is worth it for you, in my case I use LUKS Encription from Ubuntu Mate 20.04.
