Data monitor crash
-
@cliffcoggin Sit tight, the app will start working soon.

@c0n57an71n said in Data monitor crash:
@rdl85 Hi. You need to disable the indicator first, than uninstall the app and restart.
But that can not be done without a working application, so one goes round in circles. Fortunately I do not have the indicator.
-
@c0n57an71n I do admit, I forgot to uninstall the indicators before removing the program. However by the time I wanted to remove it the app would crash on startup. I then followed the directions in the apps description text in the Open Store to manually remove them: 1) cd .config/upstart 2) rm -r mattdaemon*. It did do something, but this is now what shows in my notifications bar:
-
@rdl85 It didn't dissapear after reboot?
-
@c0n57an71n unfortunatley it has not.
-
I am glad to see the Data Monitor is working again. Thanks to Matteo Bellei.
-
@rdl85 in order to remove completely the indicator, you have to first delete the relevant daemon file by typing:
cd .config/upstart
rm -r mbellei-indicator*
Secondly, you have to remove the actual indicator file by typing:
cd .local/share/unity/indicators/
rm -r com.mbellei*
Kind regards,
Matteo

@matteo hi, thank you for the detailed response. I am happy to say I re-downloaded the app after the qt 5.12 update and it works (mostly) again. No more crashes on loading. I do have one constant problem however, no matter how I set up the app, it has yet to log any cellular data for me. The Wifi tracks use fine, but no daily or total data numbers. Happy to supply log files and further detail if it helps. I am running a Pixel 3a, stabl, ota-16 in Canada. Issue also existed while still running ota-15.
-
@rdl85 hi, yes please provide your log: the
mattdaemon.log
is the one useful to understand what's the issue for your phone. Since I believe your phone isn't kinda supported yet (is it Halium 9 device?), perhaps it behaves differently respect to the supported devices and it has its special quirks. Kindly use the pastebin service to paste your log. Thank you for your help. -

Let me know if this works for you. Also, discussion in the forum: /topic/4621/google-pixel-3a-sargo makes me think it is Halium 9. But that is a little over my head at the moment.
-
@rdl85 thank you for the log. I don't see there any specific issue, did you say that for wifi as well the app doesn't show the correct data consumption in the main window? And what about the relevant graph? Does this work? Also, does the indicator work, reporting the correct data consumption? Since you said the the real problem is that data consumption for the SIM connection is not working at all, I'd need you to provide the same log when you have the Sim inserted. Thank you in advance.

@matteo my sincerest appologies for the delay in responding. I am slammed with work at the moment but plan to respon asap. I also saw your new version of the app you want tested in the QA telegram chat. I will install and send feed back soon. Appreciate your patience and all your work on this great app!

@rdl85 no worries, I got a similar feedback as yours from an other user, so just feel free to report your experience as well here, whenever you'll be able to do so. Thank you. Matteo
