Unwanted resetting/reloading of an app or webapp
-
Currently on Volla phone, every channel
I often have several apps and webapps open at the same time, often 3 or more. When I switch to one of them to use it, it happens quite often that it reloads/resets itself deleting all the data that were written, to display the launch page of the app/webapp.
I don't think (not sure or less frequent issue) that this happens if there are only several morph-browser windows open at the same time (no webapp, no app) and I switch from one to another.
I don't have this very annoying issue with my BQ E5 HD, although it has very little memory.
But I always had this bug with my ONEPLUS ONE before he died or fell into a comaUT user, do you sometimes encounter this problem? Which UT smartphone on which android base?
I don't know if this not new issue is referenced in this or that github/gitlab repository. Somebody know ?
Thanks. -
@domubpkm
Never had this issue with my MX4 since 5 years. -
@domubpkm Morph and webapps generally consume a lot of memory so that's most likely what you experience with Volla. I'm surprised that you don't experience this on bq E5 though. Perhaps you open a lot of apps on your Volla since you know it has a lot more memory while on E5, you are conservative because you know it has less memory?
In any case, I do agree that this is quite annoying. UT needs more optimizations in regards to memory management. Although, it could also be possible that memory management is different between ports/devices. Xperia X has 3 GB of memory but I feel like it's not better than my Nexus 5 (2GB) in terms of multitasking and in some occasions, I feel like it's worse.

@kugiigi Yes, I confirm for the bq. No problem with the bq for 3 or 4 (web)apps opened at the same time, not tried more. The OPO has always been a problem for me for multi-taskings, multi (web)apps, and more surprisingly, the volla now.
Indeed, perhaps the memory is not optimized identically depending on the smartphone. Those with the most memory are not necessarily the best optimized for multi-tasking.
And yes, it annoys me to start something and end up on a reset ! -

I don't have the Volla phone but I think Halium 9 is also used for it and my Lenovo M10 (also 4GB of RAM). In my observation, I feel like the system is too aggressive killing apps or webview when Morph or any app with webview is open. I haven't tested thoroughly but there was an instance that

shows that I still have around 1GB free, and a tab in Morph was killed. That's like the whole RAM on Bq E5 -
@kugiigi I have 4 webapps open at the same time on the BQ E5 HD, and nothing is killed !
I put the link of the thread on the Volla open issue but your interesting ideas and leads might be useful to submit directly even if you don't own a Volla.
