Is there some further project documentation for developers?
For example, I managed to get it running somehow on the FP3, but I am not sure how to get internet connection in the anbox container. I assume there needs to be created some network bridge or similar?
And it seems, that the terminal app needs to be set to "do not sleep while in background".

It would be nice, if there were some kind of a list with prerequisites, which must be met to be successful.

Though, I assume you just need some more time to put things together πŸ˜‰
        Thanks.

@luksus Sorry no documentation for now, to get it running on a FP3 the porter need to enable settings into the kernel...
About this terminal sleep mode this would change as Anbox is still into development it is now in Alpha stage...

Dear all, we are pleased to announce that since today, Anbox for Ubuntu Touch is able to run on desktop mode.

A warm thanks to Erfan who has achieved a new amazing step on the development of Anbox.

As you know, the task is substantial, and much work remains to be done.

We will come back here regularly to provide you with news on the progress of the work.

Stay tune and keep updated: https://gofund.me/acb31504

@stanwood What do you mean by desktop mode? Like in windowed mode in UT or running on a desktop PC (x86)?

Really? I thought this was using Halium-9-gsi specific features?

                      Dear all,

The participatory funding campaign is coming to an end. First of all, we would like to warmly thank all donors for their support. We have raised the unimaginable sum of 7'120 Euros.

This amount allowed us to pay a qualified developer, Erfan, who did a fantastic job on the creation of "Anbox-Halium".
Erfan will continue to work and develop the project until it is usable by Ubuntu Touch users on a daily basis. We hope to have a viable version by the end of the year.

Future updates of the project will be published here on the UBports Foundation forum:
                      https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5907/open-ubuntu-touch-to-all-android-applications/56

We are happy to have been able to contribute to this project and warmly thank Erfan and the community members who helped him.

The GoFundMe campaign (https://gofund.me/acb31504) will be taken offline on 14 June 2021. The remaining funds will be donated to Erfan to continue his work.

We are confident that this achievement will be a big step forward in the popularity of Ubuntu Touch. Indeed, many potential users are looking forward to being able to use their Android applications in Ubuntu Touch in an efficient way.

See you soon for more exciting news!

                          Dear all,

A new fundraising site for the "Anbox-Halium" project for Ubuntu Touch has been activated: https://www.whydonate.eu/fundraising/anbox

This one replaces the GoFundMe campaign https://gofund.me/acb31504

The goal is to raise 5'000 Euros in provisions for future development work. This will be in addition of the 7'175 Euros raised on GoFundMe

We are happy to continue to support Anbox in order to finally allow decent use of Android applications in the Ubuntu Touch ecosystem.

Frequent updates will be posted here.

                          Many thanks for your support!

Clarification : the meaning of the word 'eventually' may seem ambiguous outside the context or for french UT users. This word means FINALITY, ULTIMATE GOAL for me here. Isn't it ?

                                  Dear all,

We're pleased to provide you a fresh update on the latest Anbox developments, that have been achieved last week:

                                  • Backported dmabuf from upstream mir to ubports mir in order to fix anbox display on pinephone (and other mainline devices with ubports)

                                  • Switched from qtwayland to native wayland

                                  • Prevented anbox from sleep and lock state

                                  • Added x86 support and lxc version >2 to scripts

                                  • Merged microg patches

                                  • Added mouse and keyboard support to wayland

Thank you for your support (and patience). We also thank (one more time) Erfan for his great work!

Continue to support Anbox project development: https://www.whydonate.eu/fundraising/anbox

See you soon for the next update!

Micro G ? Did I read that right? Good news.

Question: as it stands, is this new anbox a big energy consumer or not?

I have a question, maybe farfetched πŸ™‚, that comes to my mind : (the new) anbox is based on android 9 or 10 or 11 ? And must be updated according to the evolutions of android to adapt to the last versions of the app ?

@domubpkm LineageOS 17 based on Android 10 is the version AFAIK used in the new Anbox. This should be sufficent for a while, as security updates for that will be provided for quite some time.
