Hello. Been watching this project for some time and have finally made the jump with a pinephone. To those who are involved with the hardgraft - great effort!

I have recently flashed this to the phones eMMC. As soon as it flashed I changed channel to release candidate and version 23 installed. GPS appears to be working out of the box with uNav. Is there a way to back up my phone other than image the eMMC?

The status page on Ubuntu Ports says Bluetooth isn't working, and indeed turning it on dors nothing. Is this a current area of development, or will be tackled if moving to 20.04 doesn't fix it?

Swipe from left opens apps menu. Swipe from right changes between running apps. Swipe down for dtatus bar stuff. How do you return to home screen with no physical home button?

On first try I setup my phone on the stable channel but there were apps missing. That said the contact import from vcard worked well on stable, but failed with the release candidate. Had to split my vcard into multiple files, but did notice one comment that the last line needed to be empty, it wasn'tin the original vcard.

Finally, I fully appreviate the nature of development, but eondering if the move to 20.04 is something that is weeks, a month or two, ormore like six+ months time?

        Thanks!

There is no home screen, physical home buttons just open or close the app drawer, the same as tapping the ubuntu logo or doing a full swipe from left to right.

@phoenixlandpirat ok, home=desktop in my question. How do you get back to the desktop without closng all active applications?

Swipe in from the left and select the bottom tile, all the apps are then displayed, if an app is open you cannot go to a "blank" desktop showing only the background image.

Ok, it is what it is regards the desktop.

I would have thought alongside the pure background you'd have two activity levels for applications, those in full service and those moved from the main focus. The latter of which could of allowed a signal to the program to run at a lower activity/GUI update level.

Moving on, still got the other questions regarding Bluetooth and the move to 20.04.

There are apps on openstore to fullfill the lack of a desktop/home.
Try Home by @pavelprosto for instance.

@doctrucker And regarding the move to 20.04, that depends hugely on how many can and are willing to pitch in to help with the actual coding, packaging and testing. But I would think months rather than weeks.

Try to long swipe from the right (to show the app spread). You'll have all opened apps. There's no apps running on the background.

@cibersheep what do youmean there are no apps running on the background? Do you mean they don't tend to reduce consumption when they haven't got focus, that the programs are suspended when not in focus, or something else?

@arubislander fully appreciate it's dependant on volunteers. When I get a moment I'll get upto speed on giving better feedback than just dropping comments in this/general forum.

@keneda spot on, thanks. Hadn't considered it could have been solved by a program.

You shoul add there are particulars programms, like Dekko, that can run in background.

And also, if apps need to be able to run in the background, then UbuntuTweakTool (which is in the Open Store) can make that possible.

                                      Is currently using an Op5t
