        Hello,

the fingerprint reader of my Volla Phone doesn't work any more. It doesn't react at all. I also can't add new fingerprints, though it shows the screen and tells me to tap the sensor. It does nothing and recognizes nothing.

I had this before and after rebooting it normally starts to work again. I rebooted a dozen times now, but nothing changes.
Is there any way to check, if this is soft- or hardware related? Can I "talk" to the fingeprint reader in the terminal or something like that?

        Thank you!

@jojumaxx you can try to reflash UbuntuTouch by using the UbPorts Installer. There is an option to keep userdata and just reflash the system partition.

Before, you can try power off the phone, It's not same reboot.

Since i have my Volla, It is the first time that i try to use the fingerprint sensor, and indeed, it seems not to work: impossible to add a fingerprint.
In fact it is better that it does not work now because how do you unlock the phone if it doesn't recognize a fingerprint ???

Normally, any phone with fingerprint activated has also a passcode unlock possibility for exactly that kind of issues.

I'm sorry for getting back to this that late.

I was trying around and found out, that in my case, the fingerprint reader comes back to work after a reboot BUT only after 30 to 120 minutes.

I could observe that several times now. Of course you normally don't wait that long after a reboot which makes you think the fp reader even doesn't work after rebooting.

So I have no clue why it takes the fingeprint reader that long to return to work, but it constantly does.

I'll mark this as solved for now since.it is for me right now.

If the 30/120 mn behavior is easy to reproduce, and not only for you, that's a good info for porters and devs to debug the issue.

@keneda it's hard for me to reproduce since I can't make the fp reader stop working intenionally.

It just happens from time to time. And it happened once after the phone fell from a moderate height...
