So what devices will be supported in 20.04? I would like to get device, with stable support as possible in long term. And fairly new (2018 etc) so the hardware won't be issue in next couple of years.

I had op6, but it was too big to use. And I didn't like the two partitions system.

I have been following ubports and its work and I am familiar with the supported devices, but I want to ask on the forum for help to get good supported device.

Thereby hangs a tale. It apparently is not possible to give a definite list of which devices will be supported, which might be supported, or which will not be supported. Technical and resource problems will affect the final outcome.

My guess is the more recent is the device, the more it will likely be ported on 20.04, since it's vendor Linux kernel version provided with device wich is the most important in the matter.

Old devices with outdated kernels will not be easy to port.

          Again, it's my guess.

From what i understood, any android device with android 9 or up comes with this 2 partitions system.

Don't get drawn into the debate about future proofing. The same happens with PC's and a lot of experience I have had with that, the advice is do not go down that route. The best device is one that works and works for you. UT is still going to have bugs, but so does iOS and Android, it is just how comfortable you are with them.
All devices have their issues, Pixel phones is usually battery life, Xiaomi phones is the annoying unlock bootloader process and so on.
Buy what you can afford and is the furthest developed. If you don't like UT and the phone was cheap, no loss, sell it on.
For me, by far the best value phone is the Nexus 4, albeit a bit aged. You can buy one for £10UK, battery replacement is incredibly easy and UT works really well on it. Then if you don't like it or want to upgrade to a bigger phone, you will easily make that £10 back selling it on.
As the others said, check out the list, get what you can afford and is available and have fun playing with UT till you get it how you want.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.... And more...
            I have too many devices...

Some devices are ported by the core team develloper (pixel 3a for example ) so it will be a big chance that they do the job to make the devices usable in the future. Some have active porter as well, some porter have done the job and drop the port ( so the devices will stay like it is today ).
I not an expert, but it's UT, if something is doable, anybody can work on it and make it happen!

              Xiaomi Redmi 7
              Samsung Galaxy note 4

When is this update to 20.04 going to happen? What happens to the 16.04?

I have had UT before, and I'am familiar with the os. One thing that is not working for me, is the signal app that wont work on UT. That is mainly the one and only thing, I can't use UT my daily driver. I hope this is going to change in the future.

@keneda Yeah, axolotl didn't work one bit, at least not with my op6 at the time, and I don't recall there was any other signal app available.

It's under active development. In short, a handful of volunteer devs are playing catchup with the much larger Signal team, and trying to adapt to changes that they aren't told about and have to reverse-engineer.
At the moment it's working pretty well for me; issues I'm having are mostly cosmetic, and having to do with Groups. The basic features are present and reliable for me.
I use the app in tandem with Signal Desktop on my laptop, the two are linked up, and that way I can use features that are still missing in Axolotl.

                      Is currently using an Op5t
Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.
