Got a Lenovo M10 TB-605/X....

Really nice tablet. First thing I did was unlock the bootloader. You have to go into settings and push the button for OEM unlock, and USB debugging, boot to the bootloader (USB debugging =
./adb reboot bootloader). In the boot loader the installer instructions are wrong it should be:./fastboot oem unlock-go
It is a bit hit and miss but persevere. Then reboot, it takes an age to restart so be patient.
Once back into Android, set USB debugging in developer mode and reboot into the bootloader.
Follow the on screen instructions, but this is very important:
Make sure you select developer or RC, NOT stable.
Again it will take a while, but you will get to "desktop" and it looks really good. For some reason mine started in windowed mode, but I installed the UT tweak tool and it looks just as good in the staged mode.
So far it is really good and just what I want in a Linux tablet as all seems to work (I have Linx 1010b tablets based on the Atom Z series running Ubuntu 20.04 which are fine, but some things don't work).
Thank you to Luksus for the port.
(Unlocked and flashed from a Windows 11 machine on a USB 3.0 port)
Edit: 19th August 2022 - I have installed it with stable and the install using the latest UT installer wnet really well. Thank you for the heads up @Luksus on the OTA-23 update install.

@mrt10001 Hi, thanks for your feedback.
Yes, sadly the device always boots into windowed aka desktop mode.
I didn't figure out how to solve this yet.
You can also switch to staged mode, if you pull down the indicators, go to the one on the right edge (system settings or similar) and there you have a switch for enablig or disabling "desktop mode". -
-
@luksus Great that worked, quicker than UT Tweak Tool. For a tablet, it will now replace my Nexus 7 as a daily tablet driver. Thanks again for the port.
If there is anything you want testing let me know, if I get some time I will try and help you out. -
@luksus Maybe the device is configured as desktop? For the x606f port, I had an MR to configure it as tablet which also enables the side stage.
-
@kugiigi Yes, I know your MR and it is already added to the port sine the beginning.
I have the impression that the devices.conf in /etc/ubuntu/ is not read right. And I also did not find a hint, where and how it gets read, to debug it...
The device is configured as "tablet" in android.conf file, which makes the desktop switch button to appear in the system-settings indicator.

@Luksus - Is the M10 TB-X605F and earlier version of the M10 HD? I am not finding the M10 TB-X605F available except on the used market.
Edit - I do see some of the X606F available on the used market. Is this sufficiently similar?

No, sadly not.
There is a port for it, but it is unmaintained. It also seems relatively hard to find the right combination of stock-image and vendor-image, to make it work with UT. -
@luksus - Thanks for the reply. I will continue searching. The X605F is very difficult to locate at the moment. I located an application called Navit that I am looking into as well. I contacted the developers to inquire about hardware recommendations.

@mrt10001 Sorry but why should I install the devel or RC version ? I'm not a developer, just a simple user, so I think that stable is the best choice for me...
Could you explain this point ? -
@bobnic
Maybe because stable is not mature.
So things could be already fixed in RC or dev that are not in stable. But your concerns are right, and a normal user should stick to stable, or in that kind of situations, RC.
-
@bobnic Stable doesn't work when installing, basically you will be stuck at the Lenovo screen. I made this mistake on the first attempt at installing. I then chose RC on the next attempt and it worked. Whenever there is an update, I make sure the tablet has at least 80% charge and unplug the charger and install the update. So far that has worked. I avoid the developer channel on this device as I only have one and if it bricks, I would want it back up and running ASAP. (If I have two, I can run one on RC and the other on developer, likewise, I could try stable when that arrives).

@mrt10001 Not sure how this topic was coming up here... but regarding stable channel:
Until OTA-23 there was no stable channel available for the x605, but one could still select it in the installer.
Now, since OTA-23, there is also a stable channel build available for this device and it should install without issues, at least not more issues than usual for this device. -
